The allure of magic "IndyWatch Feed National"

I am a sucker of magic, mentalist tricks, and illusions. Here is a video of Harry Milas doing some of his stuff on an Australian TV show.

You can read more about Milas here.

So good is Milas at his job that he now specialises in a unique line of work: hes enlisted by casinos around the world, from Las Vegas to the Middle East, to catch people cheating. It is this work that inspired his latest show, The Unfair Advantage, in which he goes against convention and shows his audience how to cheat in any way they want while also demonstrating all the ways they will be caught.

Milas calls the show a pretty frank warning, though many people still think theyll be able to get away with it.

Milas is known as a mechanical expert, or someone who knows all the ways to get an unfair advantage in cards. When he offers to demonstrate dealing seconds for me, I try desperately not to look too excited until he casually shuffles his deck in a spectacular way, which provokes an odd, happy noise out of me. Kindly, he doesnt make fun of it. Magic is a very optimistic art form, hell tell me later. It brings out the inner child. Its a gentle reminder that youre never going to know everything.

He shows me the ace of spades on top of the deck then starts dealing, discreetly keeping the ace on top with his thumb as he fluidly deals out the cards underneath it. This is probably the most prevalent card cheating move, he explains. It should look like nothing at all. And it does.

Truth is, its incredibly common for people to try to cheat, he says. Most of my work in casinos is confirming suspicions. And most of the time, its the dealer. Sometimes, it is someone who is winning really well and consistently it doesnt matter how fair your play is, the casinos are going to be interested in you.

A lot of the work involves studying video footage to see if he can spot a mechanic, watching the movement of their thumbs, the bevel of the deck in their hand. Most people are really fucking bad at these moves and its very obvious, he says. You can only start even thinking about trying to cheat once there is no question about being able to deliver 100% of the time. If its any less than that, you are going to be caught.

I think its a genuine disservice to reveal how magic tricks are done, he adds. I realise that that might sound hypocritical, but I personally see a distinction between revealing gambling techniques and magic secrets: one is something created for ulterior personal...

070723 AUSTRALIA CELEBRATES NAIDOC WEEK 2023
NEW DAWN FM NEWS
Australia celebrates NAIDOC WEEK each year on the first week of July to recognize the cultures, history and achievements of the first nations people of Australia.
This was revealed by the First Secretary AUSTRALIAN DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE Office based in Buka, MS FIONA CROCKFORD on New Dawn FM last night.

Stop the Great Wall of Frankston - Minister intervenes "IndyWatch Feed National"

There is exciting news from Frankston. On Wednesday Victorian Planning Minister Sonya Kilkenny announced an Interim Design and Development Overlay which included mandatory height limits of 3 storeys on the section of land between Kananook Creek Boulevard and Nepean Highway. This article is reposted from .

This area has a very sensitive creek interface and is adjacent to the Frankston foreshore. Despite its importance, until now it has had no protection from overdevelopment. Developers have lodged plans for 14, 15, and 16 storey towers! Of course their plan is to build luxury apartments - no risk of any dwellings that a young person on a basic income could live in.

The Stop the Great Wall of Frankston Campaign Committee has done a mighty job in campaigning against high rise development in Frankston's waterfront precinct. It included a Blues Concert last weekend, and a rally back on 13 May at which I was one of the speakers. The rally had an audience of hundreds, and their Petition to stop the Great Wall has attracted over 4000 signatures. , and the Protectors of Public Lands, as well as many local groups and residents, have supported this campaign.

Of course this battle has a long way to go yet, but the Minister has done the right thing, and her intervention deserves our support.

It gives us hope that there is still room for community opinion and action to influence our decision makers.

This Part 2 article has two subject matters. One is the road I took in studying autism. I credit the late Alan Cantwell, MD for getting me started. So here I will simply copy out of my book Prosecution for Treason what I knew at the time 2011. After that I will present a doctor who has OF COURSE lost his medical license for doing the right thing in regard to the CDC schedule of vaxxes for kids. Exposed, the multi-billion-dollar illusion of HIV: Part 4 "IndyWatch Feed National"

Readers of TCW will be familiar with Neville Hodgkinsons critical reporting of the Covid crisis since December 2020, notably his expert, science-based informed alarm about the mass vaccine rollout, so absent from mainstream coverage. What they may be less aware of is the international storm this former Sunday Times medical and science correspondent created in the 1990s by reporting a scientific challenge to the HIV theory of Aids, presaging the hostile response to science critics of Covid today. In this series he details findings that form the substance of his newly updated and expanded book, How HIV/Aids Set the Stage for the Covid Crisis, on the controversy. It is available here. You can read Part 1 of this series here, Part 2 here and Part 3 here.

By Neville Hodgkinson | TCW Defending Freedom | July 6, 2023

Yesterday I explained how detection of an enzyme called reverse transcriptase (RT), previously thought to prove the presence of a retrovirus but later found to be abundant in cells, lay at the root of the theory that HIV causes Aids. This is one key finding in an 80-page deconstruction of the entire concept of HIV posted in July 2017 by a group of scientists based in Perth, Western Australia.

Their work has been ignored, censored and suppressed in much the same way as experienced by critics of the panic-stricken, exploitative, ego-driven, cruel and hugely damaging responses to the Covid pandemic.

The Perth paper is not a loose philosophical challenge to germ theory in general. It is a forensic examination of every detail of the science that has been taken as proof of the HIV/Aids hypothesis.

Misinterpretation over the presence of RT paved the way for further foundational errors, the next of which was the bypassing of a vital step in virus identification known as purification. This entails separating particles of the virus from cel...

Robodebt scheme report released to the public "IndyWatch Feed Capricornia"

Robodebt Royal Commissioner Catherine Holmes delivered a damning assessment of federal ministers and public servants in her final report released today.

She makes 57 recommendations to change public service and government processes, as well pleading for a shift in cultural attitudes towards welfare recipients.

Theres also a sealed section of the report that recommends referring some unnamed individuals for civil and criminal prosecution.

The scheme now known as robodebt used income averaging to identify overpayments to welfare recipients, then pursued people for debts.

But, many of these debt notices turned out to be wrong, and many people didnt owe any money at all.

Migrants at higher risk of HIV infections: research "IndyWatch Feed Capricornia"

International migrants in Australia face many challenges, and one of them is being at risk of HIV infection, according to a new research.

The Pre-exposure prophylaxis antiretroviral tablet (known as PrEP) reduces the risk of infection in a 99 per cent, and is easily accessible to Australian citizens.

But migrants dont have this access, and along with the stigma of HIV and a lack of awareness, migrants are vulnerable.

Fighting the legacy of colonisation with innovation "IndyWatch Feed Capricornia"

First Nations communities are being encouraged to share their knowledge with STEM researchers in a new initiative aimed at addressing underrepresented issues.

The National Indigenous Innovation Challenge, hosted by Monash University, aims to support traditional Indigenous knowledge with STEM research to identify issues in First Nations communities and find sustainable solutions.

Program lead and proud Wadjak/Ballardong Noongar man, Associate Dean Professor Christopher Lawrence, says First Nations communities have knowledge which crucial to addressing long-standing issues.

The problem were talking about is the legacy of colonisation that has impacted on our community, and what we want our indigenous people to tell us, is what they think the problems are and what they think the innovative solution can be to help solve those problems.

Part of my role at the faculty of IT at Monash is to actually change that narrative around how we perceive indigenous knowledge I think they were doing amazing things that were only now starting to discover how extraordinary their work was and is and how that actually informs a lot of the work that we do now. The machines that they created, like the flying machine, the boomerangthese are the sorts of tools that were around way before Da Vinci, way before Galileo, our people were astronomers as well.

Associate Dean Professor Lawrence encouraged all those who want to be involved to reach out to him or the Monash University National Indigenous Innovation Challenge.

Grant and Lee on Generalship "IndyWatch Feed National"

The question as framed is almost silly, but it does get a properly ginned up answer.

And yes, he had a profound strategic sense and made his opponents play to his tune over and over.  He was actually a great ngeneral whose so called mistakes halped.  No one ever thought of attrition as a tactic before this, but he had the numbers and if germaine he used them.

His real genius was sending Sherman into Georgia to completly break the morale of the population to say nothing about making the cockpit about richmond all or nothing.  A retreating confederate army literally had nowhere to go, which is why they delayed as long as they did.

attrition is not inconclusive if your enemy cannot get replacements.  It just takes a nasty spell and time because you still must avoid headon clashes that chew up your men far too fast.

Climate Change Lockdowns Are Coming? "IndyWatch Feed National"

QUESTION: There has been talk that Trudeau will use the fires to claim a climate crisis, and that will justify lockdowns again. Is there any truth to these rumors?

ANSWER: There is definitely the idea of using climate change to justify lockdowns. However, this is really not for climate change but for crowd control. They are well aware of the rising discontent civilly, which historically produces revolution. They are pushing for world war III for two reasons.

First, it will be the excuse to default on all sovereign debt as they are also attracted to the Schwab-Soros solution of a one-world government. If that is the case, then all previous sovereign debt will be null and void. The United States did that with the debt of the Continental Congress when they created the United States. Thats why you can collect the revolutionary currency that was never honored.

Secondly, they fear revolution is in the w...

Vallee's "Forbidden Science: Volume 5" - items re the DIA and BAASS "IndyWatch Feed National"

I am continuing my re-reading of Jacques Vallee's book "Forbidden Science: Volume 5" and find small items of information which I have not read about anywhere else. They may well be small items of limited interest to others, but I document them here for future reference.

Item 1: A DIA UFO Collection Project?

Vallee, in a diary entry dated 26 March 2004, speaking of Dr. Eric W. Davis writes:

"Eric developed other sources, notably a former DIA senior officer who confirmed that DIA had a UFO collection project at one time. He promised to provide more information but died before they could meet again. His secretary found an envelope inside his desk sealed and addressed to Eric. It contained the man's notes about the project, and the real source of the fake MJ-12papers, with which the field of ufology remains fascinated. The story I was told is this: In 1961 the UFO Project inside the government, was taken over by DIA. By the early 1980's Rear Admiral E. A. Burkhalter, Jr. who was Chief of Staff and acting assistant vice director in the Directorate for Collection Management and his deputy Col. Roy K. Jonkers, USAF, were in charge of the project. They are shown in these positions on an org chart dated March 1981. The same document shows Dr. Jack Vorona as assistant vice-director for Scientific and Technical intelligence.
Burkhalter, calling himself 'Mister X' and a man named Polko, introduced as 'Falcon' decided to spread disinformation about UFOs. Apparently, Dale Graff, who monitored Hal's project on behalf of DIA, wasn't in the know. The remake of the Sandler-Emenegger documentary in which I participated was he correct platform, with the Norton episode, but when Pentagon P.R. man Colonel Coleman told us to 'go out on a limb' to draw out controversial revelations, I fortunately convinced Hynek we shouldn't take the bait.

Video: Ukraines offensive begins: Burning NATO equipment vs. layered Russian defences "IndyWatch Feed National"

The following update is now a month old, but it does show how the offensive that Kyiv s supposed to have launched went into reverse, proving it a monumental failure, despite newly supplied armour and weapons from NATO.

Failure on the battlefield caused huge losses in human life and equipment. KIev is reputed to have lost about three battalions of soldiers.

The Russians appear to have had significant losses as well, though not on the scale of Kyiv, and they have successfully repelled the offensive.

Those who want to know the truth must see the claimed evidence coming from both sides and draw conclusions from this. This video is worth watching for an insight into what is going on.

More voices are calling for peace. This is a recognition that the only way to stop the war is through negotiation.

News in the west insists that the offensive is still on, although reporting on events is muted.

The fighting soon shifted away front the dividing line between the two armies. It is not over yet. Skirmishes continue in some pockets, although the main battle form from the Kyiv side is the launching of missiles and some attacks on civilians in Russian territory.

Kyiv still has capacity to continue for some time, although not enough to turn this so-called offensive around.

Nor does NATO have the ability to supply Ukraine with the equipment and ammunition to sustain operations for any length of time or to hold gained territory against a Russian counter-offensive.

Market Talk July 6, 2023 "IndyWatch Feed National"

ASIA:

Goldman Sachs has stated that Western countries may need over $25 billion in investments to match Chinas supply of rare earths. The concern arises from Beijings export restrictions on minor metals, leading to fears that rare earths could be the next target. Currently, China accounts for 90% of global refined output of rare earths, and Europe and the U.S. are eager to reduce their dependence on Chinese supply. Chinas recent decision to impose export restrictions on two minor metals used in semiconductors and electric vehicles has further intensified concerns about the availability of rare earths. China dominates the production of neodymium and praseodymium (NdPr), with over 70% of global mining and over 90% of downstream metal and magnet production. This year, Chinas NdPr output is expected to reach around 50,000 tons, up from 34,000 tons in 2021. As a result, the market has moved into surplus, prompting Goldman Sachs to lower price forecasts for NdPr. According to the banks estimates, it would cost the West between $15 billion and $30 billion to replicate Chinas annual output of 50,000 tons of ND PR.

Leading US think tank admits Russia unlikely to ever run out of missiles "IndyWatch Feed National"

By Drago Bosnic | July 6, 2023

For approximately a year and a half, we have been listening to tall tales about Russia running out of munitions of various kinds due to its supposed inability to produce advanced weapons, particularly long-range missiles and other sorts of PGMs (precision-guided munitions). According to mainstream propaganda, Moscow is allegedly so desperate that it had to arm its soldiers with shovels and resort to the expropriation of washing machines, smartphones, laptops and other devices that contain microchips in order to maintain production. Such ludicrous claims would never be accepted by anyone remotely familiar with how advanced military technologies work.

However, they are an important segment of the rabidly Russophobic infowar that aims to present the Eurasian giant as supposedly technologically backward. And yet,  after Moscows long-range and tactical aviation, as well as naval and ground-based units, spent the entire special military operation (SMO) launching high-precision strikes by using advanced PGMs that quite literally nobody else has (the United States included), the mainstream propaganda machine simply had to admit something was seriously off with their assessment of Russias technological and industrial capacity. The latter should have been destroyed by Western sanctions close to a year and a half ago.

And yet, its still standing. The answer as to why this is the case was recently given by CSIS (Center for Strategic and International Studies), a Washington DC-based think tank that is among the most prominent ones in the US. According to their assessment, Moscow is extremely unlikely to run out of PGMs and other long-range high-precision weapons, either for itself or its numerous export customers. Somewhat surprisingly, with no ambiguity or sugarcoating, Ian Williams, a Fellow of the International Security Program and Deputy Director of the Missile Defense Project at CSIS, has made it perfectly clear that it would be unrealistic to expect Russia to ever run out of missiles.

The author further notes that Moscow will be able to continue building long-range PGMs, which will enable it to sustain constant long-range strike capability, despite sanctions and export restrictions. And while the CSIS repo...

Waterholes: a sacred link to life and culture in remote First Nations communities "IndyWatch Feed Capricornia"

For First Nations people, connection to Country is vital, with land and water remaining central to culture.

New research on male migration across remote communities in central Australia, shows waterholes are significant in shaping patterns of migration.

But, poisoning or damage to waterholes could impact their link to Indigenous cultural value; storytelling and knowledge-sharing.

National Radio News reporter, Amy OHalloran asked Researcher at the University of South Australia Dr John Binda Reid, why waterholes are important to First Nations people.

Unspoken expectation: a burden on First Nations people in workplace cultural events "IndyWatch Feed Capricornia"

Each year Australia hosts a number of observed days and weeks, dedicated to First Nations people. From Reconciliation week, and Sorry Day through to the more celebratory NAIDOC week.

However, opinions around such cultural events in the workplace are mixed, with some First Nations academics saying Indigenous people are expected to bear the brunt of planning and educating non-indigenous people during these events and culture relations and often without added pay.

A recent survey further highlights 39% of First Nations participants said they carry the burden of additional cultural load in the form of extra work demands.

Creativity key in reducing plastic pollution "IndyWatch Feed Capricornia"

Trillions of pieces of plastic are in our oceans and its predicted that global plastic production is set to double by 2040.  The issue has since been termed by a leading scientist as a planetary crisis.

In a bid to explore how different countries are tackling plastic pollution, the CSIRO has published a book, Ending Plastic Waste, which brings together 19 initiatives from 15 countries including Australia.

So, how are communities world-wide playing their part using creativity to mitigate the issue?

When the Reptilian Brain Drives the Political Bus "IndyWatch Feed National"

Five percent of the people think; 10 percent of the people think they think; and the other 85 percent would rather die than think. Thomas A. Edison

The constant obsessing with Hunter Biden as if this man matters, given the very real threats our society faces what is that actually about? Well, more than mere tribalism or confirmation bias on the right. Its symptomatic of a deeper and broader illness.

To be sure, those who condemn Hunter Bidens behavior (and allege special treatment) seem to ignore the financial corruption, debauchery, and far worse by a legion of right-wing leaders, movement heroes, pastors, etc. where no accountability is typically the rule, not the exception. Including the children of the immediate past president, to say nothing of the former guy himself. As someone tweeted in response to a posting I did on Hunter derangement:

Hunter has never been in politics. Ivanka and Jared made 300+ million in salary as advisors not to mention 2 billion from the Saudis and why no one is investigating that is beyond me.

So, why make so much of Hunters offenses, which are really inconsequential in the greater scheme of things, and ever so slight in comparison with the monumental outrages of so many right-wingers?

What Lies Beneath

To find the answer to this mystery, we need to lift the lid on the human skull and have a look at the wiring inside. By wiring I refer to a specific feature of anatomy that may provide at least part of the explanation: the reptilian brain. Carl Sagan described it well:

Deep inside the skull of every one of us there is something like a brain of a crocodile which evolved tens of millions of years ago. It is a major source of our moods and emotions. On the outside, living in uneasy truce with the more primitive brains beneath, is the cerebral cortex [that part of the brain that thinks rationally]; civilization is a product of the cerebral cortex.

So, our civilized selves live in uneasy truce with our more primitive selves, an internal battle within each of us.

Our civilized selves evaluate the nuances and complexity of issues, and are comfortable with the uncertainties inherent in this rational process.

On the other hand, our primitive selves crav........

The member for South Bougainville and Minister for ICT,HON TIMOTHY MASIU has told the people of South Bougainville that drugs for the South Bougainville, Health Centers, Sub Health Centers, Aid Posts and Clinics will be supplied by the Bougainville Pharmacy a local Bougainville company that has been contracted to visit these facilities throughout South Bougainville and identified their needs.

In 2020 September Mr Masiu said that South Bougainville has 53 health facilities throughout the electorate but some of them have been rendered in-operational due to shortage of medical supplies and run-down infrastructures.
This was after the first supplies were distributed to all health facilities.
News reporters from NBC and New Dawn FM covered the distribution.

Masiu said that the supplies will be used to restock the medical stores of the thirteen health centers of the four districts in South Bougainville.
He said that it is his wish to see all 53 health facilities in South Bougainville have ample supply of drugs for the people to fully utilize government health services.

The South Bougainville Development Plan is the blueprint mapping the way for this expansion of health services in the electorate.

Is Fast Fashion Making Us Sick? "IndyWatch Feed National"

On a recent spring afternoon, journalist Alden Wicker was examining a neon orange purse at H&M. The price tag read $14.99, but instead of listing materials, it simply said vegan. She raised an eyebrow. At Wickers request, a store clerk looked up the materials: polyurethane and polyester. Plastics.

For the last decade, Wicker has been covering the dirty side of fast fashion from its contribution to the climate crisis and greenwashing to multi-level marketing schemes. She founded the popular blog EcoCult in 2013 and has become an authority on sustainable fashion.

Wickers new book, To Dye For: How Toxic Fashion Is Making Us Sick, examines the public health impacts of chemically-treated fabrics and synthetic fibers. She spent two years interviewing.

She found that fashion is rife with toxic chemicals, like formaldehyde and chromium, which are both carcinogenic and endocrine-disrupting polyfluoroalkyl substances (also known as PFAS, or forever chemicals), linked to infertility and other health issues. And despite the potential harm, she discovered that the US has done little to protect consumers from the clothes they wear.

Were allowing chemicals to be poured indiscriminately into the environment, but were also bringing them into our homes, Wicker said. The effects of these chemicals on te.........

ABG COMMITTEE REPORTS DETERIORATING HEALTH SERVICES BUT MASIU HAS BEEN HELPING SINCE 2016
NEW DAWN FM NEWS
On May 17 2021 the member for South Bougainville and Minister for ICT opened the Atsinima Aid Post in the remote area between Kereaka and Torokina.
The people of Atsinima on the west coast border of South and North Bougainville have waited for 49 years for their Aid Post to be replaced after it closed in 1972.
And within those 49 years many people have died searching for Health Services in places like Kuraio farther North and Piva in Torokina.
Within those years not even one leader of Government have assisted them although they have been asking for help from our leaders.
This was revealed by Torokina chief, ROGER PIRIRI during the official opening of the new Atsinima Aid Post today.
The Aid Post was built from DSIP funds from the member for South Bougainville and Minister for ICT Timothy Masiu with funds totalling K297 thousand kina.
Roger Piriri thanked the member for funding this project after 40 years of neglect by past leaders of both the ABG and the National government.
Mr Piriri said that the last aidpost was built by the Australian colonial Government just after the end of World war two in the late 1950s.
The opening ceremony was an emotional one as leaders recalled their struggles to seek assistance during the past 4 decades.

Townsville Airlines Cessna 208 Caravan VH-NXU First Visit into CQ at the Labona Station Airstrip - Plus More! "IndyWatch Feed Capricornia"

On Tuesday 4 July, it was interesting to note that Townsville Airlines Cessna 208 Caravan VH-NXU has (possibly?) made its first ever visit into Central Queensland, flying into the Labona Station Airstrip within Adani Australia's (Bravus Mining & Resources) Carmichael Coal Mine site from Cairns and then Townsville.  It then returned to those places.

File photo

VH-NXU was delivered and registered to Townsville Airlines in September 2022.  It was previously registered as N406CR.  VH-NXU seems to mostly operate out of Cairns Airport so if this is indeed its first visit to the region, it is a welcome sight!

Meanwhile, also on Tuesday 4 July, some of the 'usual' FIFO charter flights included Southern Air Beech 1900 VH-YSO visiting Moranbah Airport once again.  It arrived from Latrobe Valley and Bourke Dubbo and then departed back to Latrobe Valley and then eventually to Melbourne (Moorabbin).

DeGunst Transport P/L Textron (Cessna) 208 Caravan VH-NPZ operated from Bundaberg Airport and looked to fly in and out of Mackay Airport.  I presume the inclement weather in the area prevented it from landing at Nebo Aerodrome.

While Hinterland Aviation Cessna 208 Caravan VH-TFS also encountered bad weather and was unable to land at Mackay Airport while flying down from Townsville as HND2290.  It returned to Townsville without landing and obviously was unable to complete its usual run out to Labona.

The Queensland Police Service (Airwing) (State of Queensland) Raytheon B1900D VH-PSK flew down from Cairns and Townsville to Rockhampton Airport.  It then continued to Brisbane before later returning to Rockhampton Airport and then back to Cairns direct.

More than 105 million working age Americans do not have a job right now - a 25% unemployment rate "IndyWatch Feed National"

Our long slide toward economic oblivion continues, and survey after survey has shown that most Americans are deeply unsatisfied with the current state of the U.S. economy. Inflation is out of control, most Americans are getting poorer due to the rapidly rising cost of living, the housing bubble has started to burst, and the commercial real estate market is a giant mess. But employment is supposed to be our bright spot. The Biden administration continues to tell us that the unemployment rate is less than 4 percent and that there are lot of jobs available for those that want them. But is this really true? To answer that question, it is imperative to understand that our government places unemployed persons into one of two categories... Jobless people are classified into one of two categories by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) either unemployed or not in the labor force. To be classified as unemployed in the month they are surveyed, people must be actively looking for work. If...

Today, the 6 July marks 25 years since the Indonesian security forces massacred scores of people in Biak , West Papua. The victims, included women and children who had gathered for a peaceful rally. They were killed at the base of a water tower flying the Morning Star flag. Other Papuans were rounded up and later taken out to sea where they were thrown off naval ships and drowned. 2) LABOR MUST COME CLEAN ABOUT THE BIAK MASSACRE 25 YEARS ON DURING PRESIDENT WIDODOS VISIT

2023-07-05

Indonesias President Widodos visit to Australia has ignited a pressing demand for an open and honest conversation about the ongoing West Papua crisis. With the 25-year anniversary of the Biak Massacre on 6th July, it serves as a stark reminder of the need for truth and accountability.

Since his election in 2014, President Widodo promised social reform for West Papua. However, the situation has only deteriorated, resulting in escalating tensions and deepening divisions between the Indonesian Government and the West Papuan people.

Almost 54 years since the ironically named Act of Free Choice referendum for West Papuan independence, the human rights abuses, colonialism and impunity for the Indonesian military have continued. Successive Australian governments have remained silent and inactive.

We know that the Australian Defence Force has concealed war crimes committed by Indonesian military police in West Papua. The Australian Government Defence Intelligence Report, dated July 17 1998, uncovers an investigation conducted by an Australian military attache and intelligence officer, shedding light on the massacre of West Papuan men, women and children by Indonesian defence and security forces on Biak Island.

The hostage-taking of Phil Mehrtens by the West Papuan Liberation Army has raised significant concerns, and while Greens strongly condone this abhorrent act, it underscores the desperate cry for international attention towards the West Papuan crisis, and Australia must actively engage.

PNG Police Investigate Shooting of Soldiers during Training Exercise "IndyWatch Feed Niugini"

Investigators from the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary and the Papua New Guinea Defence Force Military Police have begun their investigations into the PNGDF Kupiano mishap, which left two soldiers dead, and another two wounded, including a civilian.

The acting Commander of NCD and Central Province Acting Chief Superintendent Laimo Asi said an investigation team went to Kupiano on Tuesday (July 4, 2023).

He said a joint police and military investigation team have now cordoned off the crime scene to ascertain the circumstances leading up to the shootings. He said the situation has been under control since Tuesday because the incident happened between the soldiers themselves.

Mr Asi confirmed that twelve suspects were arrested, and detectives have now identified the soldier responsible for discharging live ammunition that killed and injured the victims.

Acting Commander Asi said details of the suspect implicated in the shootings will be released to the media once he is criminally charged by the investigation team.

This is a very unfortunate incident involving our soldiers, and I am expecting the investigators to probe into it thoroughly," said Mr Asi.

The Acting Commander said this incident is unprecedented.

This incident is a first of its kind, where PNGDF soldiers were killed in training, in a "blue on blue situation. This means that soldiers were killed by friendly fire from their own forces.

I expect the investigators to take blood and urine samples from the main suspect as part of their investigation. They will have to ascertain whether the prime suspect was intoxicated or drugged when the shootings happened, Mr Asi said.

Mr Asi said the findings of the investigation team will bring some closure to the families and relatives of the deceased and the injured victims.

Mr Asi visited the soldiers in Kupiano and addressed them after the unfortunate incident. He expressed sorrow and thanked the soldiers for cooperating with their superiors and the police.

The wounded and dead were airlifted into Port Moresby that same day. Police investigations are continuing.

PNG Police Chief renews calls for Introduction of Vagrancy Act "IndyWatch Feed Niugini"

Papua New Guinea Police Commissioner David Manning has renewed calls for the introduction of a Vagrancy Act following the recent spate of violence in the National Capital District and other parts of the country.

The call from Mr. Manning comes after a total of 56 persons were arrested by NCD Police for their alleged involvement in Monday's riot at Koki, in NCD.

The 56 suspects were arrested on Tuesday this week and detained at the Badili Police Station cells.

Mr. Manning said there is an alarming increase in violent crimes, especially ethnic-based violence within the NCD.

This is very concerning, and whilst the causes for the increase in these violent crimes are varied and many, I am sure everyone wants to put an immediate end to this.

Given the situation, the best option now is to bring in the Vagrancy Act. This can temporarily address the violence that is spiraling out of control, especially within our urban areas until more permanent solutions are identified and activated.

We have a constant stream of people coming into the city who have no money, no jobs and nowhere to stay. They come here to look for a better life or to escape violence back in their own villages. The tough economic times are forcing people into all kinds of activities, both legal and illegal.

For the immediate term we must stop the movement of people into the cities. The Vagrancy Act will allow that and give the Government time and space to find permanent solutions to our socio-economic challenges, Mr. Manning said.

The Commissioner said that the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary will explore the option to introduce a Vagrancy Act further in consultation with the Minister for Internal Affairs, Peter Tsiamalili Junior.

Mr. Manning said whilst he acknowledges that such an Act could be seen as draconian and may deny the constitutional rights of individuals, it is necessary for the greater or common good.

He said this is suggested as a temporary measure only and going forward, drastic measures must be taken to improve the socio-economic outlook for the country, both in the rural and urban settings.

What we are experiencing now is because a large number of our people do not have access to shelter, food, water, clothes, and medicine or health care. We must improve our education and health sectors, build our infrastructures and create more employment and business opportunities for our people. Only then can we expect to drastically reduce our law and order issues, Mr. Manning said....

One of the basic features of Nature is camouflage. Sometimes it is there to attract prey, and sometimes it is there for concealment from the predator. Other times it is an aspect of the mating dance. All of this translates into the human theater because the dramas that dance there in physical form are a part of Nature in camouflage too.

Its not just your body that is a prisoner of Nature. The Mind and The Emotions the senses, and your sense of self as expressed through The Personality are also a part of Nature. Nature has a number of ways to bind you. I heard there were 8 but Im not a numbers guy. I also heard there is only one way in which Lady Nature a conscious entity frees you or provides what is called Moksha.

Terms terms terms; what did Lao Tzu say? Terms may be used but none of them are absolute.

Nature is a non-stop endlessly whirling confusion of colors and sounds tactile impressions smells that go directly to the brain, which is where the smell test comes from, and which has to do with smell as a form of higher perception having nothing to do with physical odors. Yes many things that you cant see are still part of Nature.

Its safe to say that just about everything you can think of is a part of Nature, including the facility that does the thinking. You might well ask; what else is there? I would answer that but its not germane to todays posting which has to do with Communism.

Communism is the form of government that exists in Hellish Circumstances. Communism is a form of camouflage that presents itself as something it is not for purposes other than what it advertises. It is a system of lies and double-speak Catch-22s whose intentions are bondage and control. It is a system where the individual has no rights and no courts of appeal.

It is a system of No Exit except for Death. It is a horror show glueboard that attracts stupid people by masquerading as what it is not what it is not what it is not.

It is what Diversity Equity and Inclusion are all about. It is the brainchild of a certain group of people who demonstrated in a gruesome and protracted fashion all you ever need to know about Communism. They did this in the former Soviet Socialist Republic. They did and are doing it in China. They did it in Cambodia. There is no positive example of it except in small controlled and temporary examples here and there now and again.

Communes are Communist experiments, and their success depends entirely on the nature and intentions of the people involved. Sometime...

A Chinese Mining Company Has Opened a Giant Lithium Processing Plant in Zimbabwe

BY FARAI MUTSAKA

2:02 PM EDT, July 5, 2023

HARARE, Zimbabwe (AP) A Chinese mining company formally opened a $300 million lithium processing plant Wednesday in Zimbabwe, which has one of the worlds largest reserves of the metal as demand surges globally because of its use in electric car batteries.

Zimbabwe has the largest lithium reserves in Africa and has in recent years drawn investors in battery minerals from Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia, although China is the dominant player.

The plant opened by Prospect Lithium Zimbabwe, an arm of Chinese company Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt, has a capacity to process 4.5 million metric tons of hard rock lithium into concentrate for export per year, Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa said.

Mnangagwa was present for the official opening of the sprawling plant in Goromonzi, about 80 kilometers (50 miles) southeast of Zimbabwes capital, Harare.

Lithium is the mineral of the present and the future ... and value addition will position our country as an emerging and competitive player in the global lithium value chain, Mnangagwa said. He urged the company to beef up expertise that would help Zimbabwe and other southern African countries eventually manufacture lithium batteries and other components locally.

Lithium is a key component for electric vehicle batteries. To cash in on demand, Zimbabwe last year banned the export of raw lithium ore. In doing so, it joined countries like Indonesia and Chile that are trying to maximize their return on deposits of lithium, cobalt and nickel by requiring miners to invest locally in refining and processing before they can export.

Prospect Lithium Zimbabwe deputy general manager Trevor Barnard said that the firm aims to start by processing 450,000 tons of concentrate every year. The concentrate will be further processed into battery-grade lithium outside Zimbabwe.

Garden of Eden- the First Recorded WitchHunt "IndyWatch Feed National"

The following article is almost 30 years old and is as relevant today as it would be at any time in history when discussing the patriarchy, demonising of women and mens propensity to link women to the devil.

Jung would refer to this as men projecting their shadow upon women.

The article is by Joel Achenbach and exposes the Garden of Eden story as the first time that women are directly associated with the Devil in Christianitys misogynistic propaganda and the devastating implications that the demonising of women had then and continues to have today.

Garden of Eden the earliest linking of women to the devil:

From the article:

Question: Why are women historically considered the willing agents of Satan?

Answer: This goes back to the biblical story of the Garden of Eden. The Devil wants Adam and Eve to disobey Gods order not to eat the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge (we heard recently that scholars think it was a tomato, though wed like to see the footnotes before we sign off on that). So what does old Beelzebub do? Disguised as a snake, he tempts Eve. The woman is the conduit to the man.

Eve succumbs, then seduces Adam into eating the fruit as well. Chaos erupts: They realise theyre as naked as a couple of jaybirds, they get booted from the garden, and eventually the federal deficit reaches $400 billion a year.

The mythical prejudice had horrifying results in real life: The vast majority of people executed in the Salem witchcraft trials 300 years ago were women; the men were, in most cases, relatives or associates of women suspected of witchcraft. The same pattern held true in the even bloodier witch hunts of Europe. To blame this on misogyny seems too simplistic.

Carol Karlsen, a professor of history and womens studies at the University of Michigan and author of The Devil in the Shape of a Woman, says there may also have been an economic motive. Many of the women accused of being witches at Salem had no sons or brothers, meaning that they were in line to inherit family wealth, Karlsen says.

There is a real fear of female power thats increasing in the 16th century in Europe, says Tom Robisheaux, a professor of history at Duke University. He said that priests feared female sexual power and the way women cou...

Australian Charter of Human Rights will be a powerful tool to protect human rights "IndyWatch Feed National"

The Albanese Government must seize the moment to introduce an Australian Charter of Human Rights to guide government decision making, prevent breaches of human rights and provide access to justice, the Charter campaign today told a parliamentary inquiry.

In a submission to the Parliamentary Inquiry into Australias Human Rights Framework, the campaign, made up of over 90 organisations including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people with a disability, women, children, older persons, LGBTIQ+ people, and people from migrant and refugee communities, provided evidence that a Charter will benefit the whole community by:

  • preventing human rights violations

  • providing a powerful tool to challenge injustice; and

  • fostering understanding and respect for human rights

Australia is the only western liberal democracy without a Charter of Human Rights or similar in our laws. A Charter would mean governments must consider peoples human rights when creating new laws and policies, and delivering services like aged care, Medicare, disability services, and education funding. People could also take action and seek justice if their rights are violated.

The inquiry is due to report back on 31 March 2024.

Quotes attributed to Dr Cassandra Goldie, Australian Council of Social Services:

"People on low incomes are at increased risk of experiencing human rights violations. We urge the Government to introduce a Charter of Human Rights that recognises the interdependence of human rights and income inequality and strengthens social and economic rights."

Quotes attributed to Helen Dalley-Fisher, Convenor of the Equality Rights Alliance:

From Robodebt to ParentsNext, women have been disproportionately impacted by human rights violations enacted from government policies in Australia. A Charter of Human Rights would protect everyones human rights, and ensure government decisions and policies must consider womens rights. When governments think seriously  about womens human rights we get better policy, which means whole communities benefit.

Quotes attributed to Nicole Lee, President of People with Disability Australia:

Every disabled person should have equal access to human rights just like everyone else in our society, such as an inclusive education alongside our peers, quality health and mental health care, and dignified treatment that involves upholding our choices. Yet we have a Royal Commissions worth of stories of systemic human rights failures endured by disabled people. Thats why we need enforceable human rights protections at the heart of our laws through a Charter of Human Rights so that disabled people can participate equally in all aspects...

Whistleblower calls on government to act on KPMG and the rest of the consultancy industry "IndyWatch Feed National"

Contributed from Victoria

A whistleblower and former partner at multinational consulting firm KPMG has called on the Australian government to establish a Royal Commission into the industry, Back in 2021, Brendan Lyon, informed a parliamentary inquiry in NSW that he had been pressured by KPMG to alter records, to change the figures in the States budget. More specifically, on the NSW governments Transport Asset Holding Entity (TAHE).

He alleged that senior figures in the firm had conflicts of interest in relation to this.

Photo by Kate Geraghty: Brendan Lyon appears before the Senate parliamentary inquiry

KPMG responded by admitting it had contributed to complicating the situation and promised better practices in the future. But there has never been an admittance of deliberate wrongdoing. There was no proper investigation in NSW, even though the Australian division of KPMG had been fined $AU165,000 by the United Sates watchdog for cheating on online tests designed to improve professional safety requirements and ensure partners and staff act with integrity.

Brendan Lyon has now told the Senate inquiry that there is a need for a much more thorough investigation of the industry.

This comes in the wake of the PwC scandal. KPMG and PwC are two of the big four consulting US based multinationals dominating the industry. Together, they Carry out audits for the big corporations and government. This places them in an advantageous position to build extensive network that provide the grounds for conflicts of interest and corrupt practices to flourish.

Information is worth a great deal of money, and it is clear information has been passed on in breach of confidentiality requirements.

An investigation into their practices will contribute to uncovering the extend of it in Australia. The regulator has already found cases involving all the four. The big question is why hasnt this been acted on already?

Lyon called on the federal government to implement a default five-year ban on big four accounting firms found in serious breach of professional ethics by the new commonwealth regulator.

He also called for a ban on political donations.

In respect of its own procurement and management of consultants, the commonwealth should implement similar restrictions and obligations on public sector consultants to those bindi...

Graceless at Lords: The Class Goons Strike Back "IndyWatch Feed National"

What are the English other than their excruciatingly worn class, kitted out with a code of manners revocable at an instant?  A streak of traditional Englishness, as A. A. Gill wrote, stresses bullying.  It made them great in the hope of making others small.  A towering creature like Charles James Fox may well have added his worth to the abolition of slavery, but he was an inveterate, stinking bully.  And there was much of this recently in the normally staid atmosphere at the so-called home of cricket, a game invented to preserve an Englishmans sense of providence and eternity.

The occasion was the Second Test Match between the oldest of cricket rivals England and Australia.  As is customary, both teams make their way through what is known as the Long Room, an antiquated structure featuring portraits of the various flannel dressed figures that matter to the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC).  Importantly, the teams doing combat go through the room, to be witnessed like dressed gladiators before battle.  And close do these figures come to the members, who clap, encourage and tease as well as they might.  Drinks, as usual, flow as the performance takes place.

But something happened on the field that was supposedly not to take place.  In the final days session, with England making an ultimately doomed assault in an otherwise glorious run chase, Johnny Bairstow was stumped by Australias wicket keeper Alex Carey.  The stumping did not breach any of the games rules; in truth, it was very much within them.

The English expressed lofty, even outraged disagreement.  Bairstow, believing the ball dead and the over concluded (for those unfamiliar with this most eccentric, at sometimes soporific of games, an over is a phase of play featuring six deliveries).  An opportunistic Carey thought otherwise, throwing the ball at the stumps.  The regulation in question, Law 20.1.2, reads as follows: The ball shall be considered to be dead when it is clear to the bowlers end umpire that the fielding side and both batters at the wicket have ceased to regard it as in play. (Read on reader, read on.)

The English team captain, Ben Stokes, every bit the Celtic, bat savaging berserker, whose own performance should be immortalised, got distracted.  He moralised about what could only have been described as Bairstows lack of awareness, like a dodo caught off-guard: he would not have wanted to achieve victory in that manner.  The English coach, Brendon McCullum, spoke on Bairstows befuddled behalf by insisting that, in his view, the umpires had declared the over finished.  (They had not.)  In the famed Long Room, the Australian team faced braying and baying and jostling from the gin-filled MCC members, leading to the suspension of a mere three members.

Far from the oxidised memories of these good members, who spend decades hoping to be admitted to the club, was the sharp, unforgiving conduct of Englands own hero, WG Grace, who ran ou...

Nearly 85% of Indonesian peatlands arent protected, study shows "IndyWatch Feed National"

JAKARTA Most of Indonesias carbon-rich peatlands arent protected, according to a new study that calls for prioritizing much-needed restoration efforts for these areas. The recently published paper shows that less than 16% of Indonesias 6.7 million hectares (16.6 million acres) of peatlands are protected by law. The researchers, from universities in Italy, Malaysia and Australia, also found that the area of peatland in need of restoration interventions amounted to 4.2 million hectares (10.4 million acres), representing 28.7% of the total study area. This is much higher than the Indonesian governments target of restoring 2.6 million hectares (6.4 million acres) of peatland by 2024. Lead author Dilva Terzano, a climate finance specialist at the Rome-based International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), said she was inspired to conduct the research after having worked in Indonesia on peatland sustainable management and restoration for years, through a partnership with the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MOEF). And what was evident was the discrepancy between the conservation areas delineation in the country, and the recent exercise undertaken by MOEF of mapping the peatlands in the whole country, Terzano told Mongabay in an email. A peatland forest in Indonesian Borneo. Image by Rhett A. Butler/Mongabay. The study identified the largest unprotected peatland area in Indonesia as being in the Papua region (2.5 million hectares, or 6.2 million acres), followed by Kalimantan, the Indonesian portion of the island of Borneo, at 2.3 million hectares (5.7 million acres), and Sumatra (1.9 million hectares, or 4.7 millionThis article was originally published on Mongabay

Keeping it fake: the legal and ethical implications of synthetic data "IndyWatch Feed National"

It may seem counter-intuitive, but even synthetic data can have privacy impacts.

Companies and governments alike demand masses of data for operational, policy and research uses, but between large scale data breaches and the re-identification of published datasets, privacy risks abound.

Is synthetic data the solution?

There are a number of use cases for which synthetic data might be proposed as safer than real data.  These include:

  • training new staff how to use a CRM system before letting them loose with a login
  • developing new patient management software
  • demonstrating how a data analytics program could work to map or analyse customer journeys
  • testing whether protected taxation data will be useful for a research project before going to the effort of applying to access the real data, or
  • generating fake student records at scale for an education-themed hackathon.

However as we discovered on a deep dive into this topic for a client recently, there can still be privacy impacts arising from synthetic data, such that both legal and ethical risks need to be carefully managed.

What is synthetic data?

Entirely fake data could be generated from scratch, but to do so is time-consuming, difficult to do at scale, and the result would likely not look real.  Unless the same statistical properties have been carried across from real data, fake data will likely not be useful for anything.  Hence the market for synthetic data.

The Canadian Privacy Commissioner defines synthetic data as fake data produced by an algorithm whose goal is to retain the same statistical properties as some real data, but with no one-to-one mapping between records in the synthetic data and the real data.  The UKs ICO has a similar definition.

The idea is to produce fake data that looks real, because it retains the same structure and level of granularity as the original.  But without including any links back to the real data,  synthetic data should in theory resolve the privacy risks found when using the original data.

How is synthetic data made?

To develop synthetic records at scale, in a way which generates data that is realistic enough to be useful, but without any one-to-one mapping which could led to ready identification of real people, requires a source dataset containing the real records, and a generative model.

The source dataset

This is the original dataset containing records about a gro...

In June, Biden was confronted with the ultimate "3 a.m. phone call" moment. He could have made a call which would have helped reduce the threat of a nuclear crisis or worse. During the 2008 Democratic primary, Hillary Clinton ran an ad which sought to diminish her rival for the Democratic presidential nomination, Barack Obama, in the eyes of the voters. Building upon Obama's lack of experience in national security affairs, and what the potential cost would be should Obama falter at a critical moment, Clinton's ad sought to make the question personal, setting a scene that could be any home in suburban America at night. "It's 3 a.m. and your children are safe and asleep, but there's a phone in the White House and it's ringing. Somethings happening in the world." The listener was then challenged to decide who was best to answer the call, concluding that the best choice would be someone already "tested and ready to lead in a dangerous world." Will The Dead Finally Speak? : The victims of Francos fascist regime are being uncovered "IndyWatch Feed National"

Vice News produced this report on the mass murders perpetrated by Francisco Franco during his 36 year fascist regime.  He was so blatant in his crimes, so unabashedly unashamed of them, that many of the victims were buried within the communities where they lived.  They were murdered, and their families forced to live with their relatives bodies under their own feet for fifty years.

And this video only deals with the mass graves of 100,000 bodies.  It doesnt touch on the estimated 300,000 stolen children, either victims of the dead or kidnapped by the catholic cult which was complicit in the regimes crimes.  Civil war?  There was nothing civil about it.

Like many other countries, neofascism is on the rise in Spain.  The leader of Spains fascist movement (in the video below) engages in historical revisionism, denying that the mass murdered victims even existed.  But Spain has two key differences from most countries where ignorant and racist rightwing populism took hold: a popular and competent socialist government, and the republican families of the disappeared, millions who know about and remember the crimes of the regime.

Unlike Germany or the US where fascist extremism was hidden from view for decades, Spains fascists have still been there since the 1970s.  The question is whether they can attract enough mainstream support, or whether Spains populace retains its long memory as the dead are being recovered and families may finally get answers and bury their relatives properly.

Western media prepping nuclear false flag... and thermonuclear war "IndyWatch Feed National"

Western media are conditioning the public for a false-flag attack on the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant (ZNPP) to blame Russia. Indeed, if anything, it seems that Russian forces are turning the tables to gain more territory in eastern Ukraine. The military situation is becoming a fiasco for the NATO-backed regime in Kiev. Western governments and media can barely hide the reality that NATO's proxy war in Ukraine against Russia is turning into a historic debacle. The Fake China Threat, Then and Now "IndyWatch Feed National"

By Joseph Solis-Mullen | The Libertarian Institute | July 5, 2023

Republicans are terrible on China. Examples abound, but perhaps the most instructive illustration of this long-term handicap comes from the following quotation:

We must be prepared to go it alone in China if our allies desert us. We must not fool ourselves into thinking we can avoid taking up arms with the Chinese Reds. If we dont fight them in China and Formosa [Taiwan] well be fighting them in San Francisco, in Seattle, in Kansas City.1

This wasnt excerpted from a recent speech by Senator Tom Cotton (R-AK). Rather, it was by then-Senate Majority Leader William Knowland (R-CA), in the January 1954 edition of Colliers Magazine. While perhaps particularly rabid in his Sinophobia, President Dwight D. Eisenhower privately opined that Knowland has no foreign policy, except to develop high blood pressure whenever he mentions Red ChinaIn his case, there seems to be no final answer to the question, How stupid can you get?2 The parallels between Knowlands time and our own are significant. Representing the respective nadirs of Sino-American relations, they are worth considering in depth.

First, a necessary bit of high-level background.

In 1949 Mao Zedong and the Chinese Communist Party defeated the nominally republican forces of Chiang Kai-shek. Despite internal warnings that this was likely to happen, Chiang and his nationalist cronies being thieves, every last one of themcorrupt as they come according to President Harry Truman, this kicked off a firestorm in Washington3. Who lost China? subsequently became a driving force of the Second Red Scare that consumed American politics, distorting perceptions and constraining the ability of even the most powerful figures, such as Eisenhower or Secretary of State Dean Acheson, to act towards China in the more rational manner they would have liked.

The Intriguing Science Behind Rains Aroma: Can You Smell When The Rain Is Coming? "IndyWatch Feed National"

Have you ever found yourself standing at the threshold of your home on a sizzling summer day, or on a crisp, bone-chilling winter afternoon, convinced you could smell the rain coming? As it turns out, this phenomenon isnt universally experienced, leading many to question if its rooted in scientific fact or if it merely exists as a whimsical myth.

If youve browsed through social media on a particularly cloudy day, you might have noticed a polarizing debate: there are those who assertively proclaim their unique ability to predict rainfall through olfactory cues, while others appear notably doubtful. However, regardless of which camp youre in, theres some fascinating evidence that supports the concept of pre-rain odors. Numerous factors contribute to this olfactory phenomenon, with a primary component being the enchanting scent known as petrichor.

The Mesmerizing Mystique of Petrichor

Petrichor, a term rooted in Greek with petros meaning stone and ichor standing for the ethereal fluid coursing through the veins of ancient gods, represents the intoxicating, earthy aroma that pervades the atmosphere post rainfall, especially following a prolonged dry spell. Mineralogists Isabel Joy Bear and Richard Thomas first introduced this term to the world in 1964, unwittingly kindling widespread fascination with this mysterious smell.

Though petrichor consistently ranks among favorite natural fragrances for many people, the reason behind its appealing allure wasnt understood until recently. In an enlightening 2020 study, researchers discovered the tantalizing scent of petrichor wasnt just enticing to humans but proved irresistible to a variety of other animals as well.

Asian NATO: another failed plan by Washington "IndyWatch Feed National"

By Viktor Mikhin New Eastern Outlook 05.07.2023

There are increasing reports in the world media that the US-led NATO military alliance is planning to expand into the Asia-Pacific region. The idea was originally introduced by US President Joe Biden at the East Asia Summit on October 27, 2021, where he said: We envision an Indo-Pacific region that is open, interconnected, prosperous, resilient and secure and we are ready to work together with each of you to achieve this. The White House later issued a report titled Indo-Pacific Strategy of the United States on February 11, 2022, outlining President Joe Bidens strategy to reestablish American leadership in the Indo-Pacific region.

Among the remarks in the so-called newsletter that stood out was the declared necessity for the US to strengthen ties with Asian countries in order to tackle the urgent task of competing with China. But, according to its authors, NATO, which was formed to defend Europe against a fabricated Soviet threat, is allegedly a peace-loving alliance. In reality, it has evolved into a militarily aggressive bloc with a dominant presence in the North Atlantic region. This peace-loving coalition has militarized the continent to the point where war has broken out in Europe for the first time since World War II.

The question arises, do the countries of the Asia-Pacific region want to see their region also heavily militarized under the strict guardianship not only of the United States, but also of European peace-loving NATO? Jens Stoltenberg, the secretary general of this peace-loving bloc, insists on increasing the military alliances activities in Asia, as he stated publicly earlier this year during a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. The peacemaker from Europe said: What happens in Asia matters for Europe and what happens in Europe matters for Asia, and therefore it is even more important that NATO Allies are strengthening our partnership with our Indo Pacific partners.

According to Japans Nikkei newspaper, NATO will establish a liaison office in Tokyo in 2024 and use it as a center for cooperation with Australia, Japan, New Zealand and South Korea. Geographically, these four countries are close to China and other states in the region. It should be emphasized that they are all strategically placed in the Asia-Pacific region and have common interests with the US and NATO, or serve them faithfully.

It doesnt take a genius to figure out that their target in this situation is China. Speaking at a May 26 press briefing, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson rightly noted that NATOs attempt to intervene in the Asia-Pacific region eastward would inevitably undermine regional peace and stability...

Jokowi focuses on El Nio as Indonesias dry season heats up "IndyWatch Feed Niugini"

Indonesian President Joko Widodo has warned of potentially dangerous weather conditions accelerating across the archipelago in the coming months, as the nations meteorology agency says more than half the country has entered the dry season. Anticipate the potential for a long dry season due to El Nio, the president, known as Jokowi, told ministers at a cabinet meeting in Jakarta on July 3. Agencies across Indonesia are allocating resources and shifting policy to confront the risks posed by the emergence of the first El Nio since the Southeast Asian countrys 2015 haze crisis. That year, El Nio-driven warming of Pacific Ocean waters caused a cascade of climatic effects, which in Indonesia meant a prolonged main dry season beyond October. The dearth of rain strengthened the annual wildfires, which burned 4.6 million hectares (11.4 million acres) of land across the archipelago. Data from Indonesias Meteorology, Climate and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) showed a total of 186 medium-risk hotspots across the country on July 2. The eastern regions of Papua and Maluku accounted for the largest share, with 62 hotspots, while the agency detected 38 hotspots across Sumatra and Kalimantan, the Indonesian portion of the island of Borneo. By comparison, on July 30, 2015, the last El Nio year, the BMKG recorded 186 hotspots just in Riau, a province in Sumatra home to Indonesias largest expanse of carbon-heavy peatland. In 2015, the city of Palangkaraya, the capital of Central Kalimantan province, experienced some of the worst air quality recorded in Indonesia as nearbyThis article was originally published on Mongabay

I Hope To God I Am Wrong: Climate Change Going Through The Roof "IndyWatch Feed National"

Why are we at Media Lens utterly terrified by climate collapse while other people we know are mildly concerned, blithely indifferent or cockily contrarian?

The simple answer is that we are doing this full-time and doing this includes reading the unfiltered reports and thoughts of top climate scientists on social media all day, every day.

Whenever we take a break from social media, the tendrils of the corporate body-snatchers again start to insinuate themselves. We are soothed by entertainment, by infotainment, by presstitute prestidigitation normalising the unthinkable. Despite a mountain of evidence, we are assured that the crisis is under the management of fundamentally decent, rational leaders. Yes, dear reader, our sense of crisis also abates.

There are two key responses to news of the latest climate disasters:

Its bad, but not that bad. Its manageable and we can carry on pretty much as normal.

An alternative take:

No, it is that bad. This is just the ball starting to roll it will gather more and more and more momentum, and it wont stop. We need drastic change now!

The second of these is inarguably correct. The first is the underlying message delivered by state-corporate media that have an existential vested interest in the status quo, in discouraging us from seeking serious change. And this is exactly why the level of public alarm does not yet reflect the terrifying, rollercoaster reality depicted in the soaring and crashing graphs measuring temperatures and ice coverage.

Professor Bill McGuire, Emeritus Professor of Geophysical and Climate Hazards at University College London, tweeted last month:

I hope to God I am wrong, but to me, it is looking increasingly as if we have reached some sort of tipping point, with the global temperature, sea-surface temperature, ice loss, and other parameters, all going through the roof.

McGuire was responding to reports...

Asparagus as a Hangover Cure? "IndyWatch Feed National"

<p><p>Recently, a claim has been making its rounds on the popular social media platform TikTok, suggesting that asparagus holds the secret to preventing the effects of a hangover. Several videos promoting this idea have amassed millions of views, with TikTokers lauding the green vegetable as a miracle hangover stopper. But does the science support this claim? Can asparagus genuinely shield you from the unpleasant aftermath of excessive alcohol consumption? The answer, it appears, is not quite as straightforward.</p> <p> </p> <blockquote cite= "https://www.tiktok.com/@louislevanti/video/6968555624934165766" class="tiktok-embed"> <section><a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@louislevanti?refer=embed" rel="noopener" target="_blank" title= "@louislevanti">@louislevanti</a> *chases shot of tequila with asparagus* <a href= "https://www.tiktok.com/tag/learnontiktok?refer=embed" rel= "noopener" target="_blank" title="learnontiktok">#learnontiktok</a> <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/tag/hangovercure?refer=embed" rel= "noopener" target="_blank" title="hangovercure">#hangovercure</a> <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/tag/tiktokhacks?refer=embed" rel= "noopener" target="_blank" title="tiktokhacks">#tiktokhacks</a> <a href= "https://www.tiktok.com/music/Monkeys-Spinning-Monkeys-6746993352891189249?refer=embed" rel="noopener" target="_blank" title= " Monkeys Spinning Monkeys - Kevin MacLeod & Kevin The Monkey"> Monkeys Spinning Monkeys Kevin MacLeod & Kevin The Monkey

As per some TikTokers, the minerals and amino acids in asparagus help protect your liver from toxins. They argue that the enzymes in asparagus help break down alcohol and alleviate hangovers. With Nix, Bitcoin Projects Can Accelerate Contributions And Deployment "IndyWatch Feed National"

This is an opinion editorial by niftynei, a developer educator who runs the Base58 Bitcoin protocol academy and an organizer of the upcoming, Nix-focused Bitcoin++ conference.

When you want to install a new app on your computer, where do you get it from?

Deciding which source to use is a problem that's surprisingly difficult to solve, but it's one that every computing platform struggles with.

Before the internet was widespread, new software packages were distributed on hard media, like CDs or Core, for example, you'd need to buy it physically at the store or have it mailed to you. You'd then load the disk or USB stick into your computer, and make a copy of the new software onto your local disk.

As a developer writing code, you'd have to physically hand out copies of your programs to friends and family. Or you'd work for a large corporation that had relationships with companies and computer stores, which would figure out how to get the software you wrote distributed to their clients and customers.

With the advent of always-connected computers, the landscape of software distribution forever changed. Now, instead of having to physically pick up a copy of the bits in a program, you can easily download a copy of it from the internet.

This made it much easier for new developers to write apps that anyone can download. The problem now, however, is answering the question: Where on the internet should users download the new software from?

The Hacker's App Store

The way that mobile phone ecosystems solve the problem of new application distribution is through a program on your phone called the "App Store" (or the "Google Play store" on Android).

Developers upload the latest copy of their apps to either Apple's or Google's servers. Those companies then send out a silent notification to all of the phones that have the app installed, and the app gets updated in the background on users' phones, without the users involvement.

If you're a user and you want to add a new app to your phone, in most cases you'll be able to find it in the App Store, and download it from there.

But not all software is available as a mobile phone app. Some software projects are desktop apps or tools that developers use to write new pieces of software. These applications need a distribution channel too. On desktop operating systems, we tend to call the "App Store" software by the term "package managers." They manage the packages of software that you download onto your computer.

Modern package managers consist of a central server, sometimes the app, and a client-side application which runs on the package user's computer.

If you're a developer, you've probably run into homebrew or...

Jordan's response to questions about the disappeared Turkish-Emirati dual national Khalaf al-Romaithi have only raised further queries, say the MP who posed the questions, Romaithi's lawyer and rights groups.

Romaithi, 58, was detained in Amman on 7 May after an iris scan at Queen Alia Airport revealed an Emirati warrant for his arrest. He was initially released on bail, but then later arrested by plainclothed police officers, and was due to have his case heard in court on 16 May.

After an initial court hearing on 9 May, Romaithi has not been seen by his lawyers and family.

A week later, Emirati state media reported that he had been "received" in the UAE. A Turkish official told interested parties that Romaithi was taken by a private plane to the UAE on 12 May.

But neither his exact whereabouts, nor how he ended up in the UAE have been clarified publicly by the UAE, Jordan or Turkey, who have remained silent on the topic - until the release this week of answers to parliamentary questions raised by Jordanian MP Adnan Mashuqa in May.

Exposed, the multi-billion-dollar illusion of HIV: Part 2 "IndyWatch Feed National"

You can read the first part of this series here.

By Neville Hodgkinson | TCW Defending Freedom | July 4, 2023

When an idea is fervently adopted by most of the worlds doctors, scientists and politicians and supported by millions of people, it is a tall order to make the case for a rethink. Such was the experience of biophysicist Eleni Papadopulos-Eleopulos, who 40 years ago developed a detailed theory about Aids that contradicts the generally accepted belief that a deadly virus, HIV, is the cause. Decades of unremitting censorship and rejection preceded her death from heart failure in March 2022, aged 85.

Her story has important, and disturbing, implications for our understanding of what has been happening with the Covid crisis.

Born in Greek Macedonia, she and her brother Dmitris were part of a kinder diaspora sent to Eastern Europe to escape the Greek civil war of 1946-49. She was cared for well, and graduated with a Masters degree in nuclear physics from the University of Bucharest, Romania.

In 1965, at the age of 29, she was reunited with her family in Perth, Western Australia, where they had emigrated. She learned English and joined the staff of the medical physics department at the Royal Perth Hospital, remaining on the books there for more than half a century.

In September 1976 she married Kosta Eleopulos, also a child sent to Romania who eventually found his way to Australia. She blamed herself for his death, five years later, from gastric cancer, believing she should have been able to save him with the knowledge she had acquired.

Papua New Guineas currency flagged to continue gentle fall "IndyWatch Feed Niugini"

The Papua New Guinea kina is starting to experience a very gradual erosion against its key trading currency, the US dollar. While economists expect further weakness ahead, the Bank of PNGs Acting Governor Elizabeth Genia tells Business Advantage PNG she sees no cause for panic.

Chart showing US dollar against the PNG kina over the past year, and the recent reduction in the (mid-rate) value of the kina over the past two months. Credit: Xe.com

In light of the Bank of Papua New Guineas (BPNG) pending plans to gently return the kina to convertibility meaning trading on foreign exchange (FX) markets without restriction PNGs currency is expected to continue its gradual deprecation over the next 18 months.

While the kina has remained static against the US dollar (at US$0.2840) since February 2022, PNGs currency has demonstrated some modest, weakness against the greenback since early May, moving from US$0.2840 to US$0.2800.

The BPNGs Acting Governor Elizabeth Genia views recent changes as an attempt to get a more balanced foreign exchange market.

There are grounds for the kina to depreciate in a gradual and in a measured way, but any talk of a devaluation is unfounded, she tells Business Advantage PNG.

Marine Le Pen likely to be next French President "IndyWatch Feed National"

Alexander Mercouris of the Duran makes a good summary of what is happening in French politics at the moment in this short embedded video. Inside I make some comments.

Alexander Mercouris's statement that France has a lot of independent media strikes me as generous, since the mainstream has been dominated by a US-syndicated newsmedia for years now, with state channels that sound just like ABC Australia.  But French populations are far more localised than most other 'modern' states, retaining a more clan-based population distribution , thus able to transmit political and other knowledge through generations in other ways. Le Pen's representatives gained ground initially in regional elections. (See my new book, Sheila Newman, , (2023)). France is still slightly protected by having its own language, thus suffering less censorship from youtube etc, and it retains public intellectuals who seem just now to be waking from a kind of coma induced by Anglosphere-EU-influenced political correctness.

This awakening is probably the result of not being able to stand the crazy EU narrative accompanying the Ukraine-Russia war, along with the economic fall out and the massive wave of Ukrainian refugees. The revolts of the urban lower classes may also be partly influenced, especially where they have Muslim demographics, by disgust with France-NATO's conduct in Africa and the Middle East, which the rise of BRICs and its own news-services has brought into relief.  The use of VPNs to get round France's EU-dictated censorship of non-NATO-vetted news would be particularly high in this diaspora and among French intellectuals.  We can only hope that some of Australia's immigrant populations may be similarly well-informed, enough to affect the sickening drone of public propaganda that dominates Australia felix.

(Alexander Mercouris is, by the way, from a famous Greek political family. His father was a Greek partisan and he was nephew of the politically influent...

Quandries of Perpetual Dischord by Elizabeth Moroz "IndyWatch Feed National"

Permanent irreversible Attatchment disorder
A lemonade stand at the Mexican Border
A traumatised disorganised old lady hoarder
The incriminating evidence on an old tape recorder

Elements of discontent shivering through a crowd
Firmaments of promises sent confirming love out loud
Innocents in recompense versus the indiscriminately Proud

Hallowed ground to walk a solemn pilgrimage
Mellowed kids found in a drugged up old orphanage
Shallow things in the ground as we discover archaeological heritage
Waiting for you to come around after the last disagreeable haemorrhage

Dont perpetuate the notions of those who deal in mis-truths
Allow the forward motion of the next generation of youths
Avoid the multi-syllabic commotions of the sub-cutaneous systematic word-sleuths
Explore the promotion of legislative proof

Pay no heed to aristocracy lest you kneel before the crown
Histories of greed and animosity as First Nation people frown
Enhance the seed of meritocracy and do not let democracy down
Per chance the need of mediocrity is allowing dreams of progression to literally drown

Distortions of perspective allowed too much time in publication
Abortions and incentives disavowed by politically un -objective legislation
Contortions of mis-directives allowed the resulting violent instigations
Act with caution around detectives when they amount their investigations

A conversation meant for only honest ears
An invitation sent to one who has accumulated the years of
Inclination that went to a pub to drink more beers
As the intimation to invent inclines financial systems into arrears

Sunlit afternoons upon a golden prairie
Unfit old cartoons before it all became too contrary
The stark hit of high noon when viewing something extraordinary
The slow wit of a tycoon holding onto his self proclamations of Legendary

A compromise of ethics for the sake of business running
An enterprise of genetics in the wake of scientific funding
A stealth disguise of frenetics formed by a hedonistic cunning
The wealth suprised by the systemics involved in the economic collapses that are coming

The concentric inheritly biased comparisons that we make
The eccentric numerical silence of a mathematicians answer to a Fake
The barbaric energetic violence of those who are only willing to take
Marie Antoinette on the day she proclaimed Let them eat cake!

A latent virus that is mutating just under the skin
A patient silence that is waiting for the other team to win
Egypt turned to the God Osiris as Cleopatra started to grin
A thief conspires to other liars as Frank Sinatra sips on gin

A sobering analysis of what it might take to overcome vaccine skepticism "IndyWatch Feed National"

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. epitomizes the modern American success story. He has no notable achievements of his own but because of inherited family wealth and the well-known Kennedy name (he is the son of the late Robert F. Kennedy), he has the kind of influence that is so helpful in staying relevant. In fact, the success of the entire Kennedy clan can be traced back to the ambitions of his wealthy grandfather Joseph Kennedy who paved the way to elite education and political success for his descendants.

Kennedy has now entered the contest for the Democratic nomination for president. He is a notorious anti-vaccine crusader and this will simply give him a platform to further propagate his views, while the family name will give him more publicity. Indeed his anti-vaccine misinformation got him banned from Facebook and Instagram and he used the loophole of his candidacy to get back on those platforms. He is also a hypocrite. While making all manner of outlandish and offensive claims about the dangers of vaccines, when he hosted a party at his home, he urged all guests to be vaccinated or be tested for Covid-19. He has also profited greatly from his anti-vaccine stance.

In an interview with On The Medias Brandy Zadrozny, Paul Offit, a pediatrician and inventor of the vaccine against rotavirus, describes an interaction he had with Kennedy.

Almost 20 years ago, he called me on the phone. He said that there were a number of women who had come into his office and were concerned about vaccines and vaccine safety. He was trying to find a way to reassure them, could I help him? We had a conversation for about maybe an hour that I thought went really well. I thought I answered his questions and felt good about the whole thing.

But Kennedy then published a 4,700-word hit piece on Offit and vaccines that was published in. Rolling Stone magazine, that was subsequently debunked by researchers and journalists and ultimately retracted. But the damage was done. There is little doubt that it was the Kennedy name that eased the path to publication because he has no credentials in this area whatsoever.

Offit says that vaccines are victims of their own success. They have managed to eliminate or reduce the extent of so many diseases that people have forgotten what it...

Washingtons Real Policy Toward China "IndyWatch Feed National"

Washingtons Real Policy Toward China

After an intense escalation between the US and China over the formers persistence in containing the rise of the latter, and particularly over US interference with the island province of Taiwan, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken traveled to Beijing supposedly to repair tattered US-Chinese relations.

As part of the process, Secretary Blinken even publicly recited the US One China Policy, acknowledging that the US does not support Taiwan independence. However, even while acknowledging Chinas sovereignty over Taiwan, Secretary Blinken reiterated US responsibilities under the unilateral Taiwan Relations Act making sure Taiwan has the ability to defend itself, or in other words, selling arms to Taiwan without Beijings approval and thus trampling Chinese sovereignty.

Following this, US President Joe Biden would refer to Chinese President Xi Jinping as a dictator during a speech featured on the official White House website. Days later, Secretary Blinken would affirm President Bidens comments, as reported by US government-funded media outlet Voice of America in their article, US Officials Agree: Chinas Xi Is a Dictator.

Why is the United States attempting to appear to be pursuing diplomacy while deliberately sabotaging any improvement in US-Chinese relations?

Before answering this question, it is important to understand just how...

Interstellar Alloy Recovered From Pacific Floor? "IndyWatch Feed Niugini"

In 2019, two researchers from Harvard University Amir Siraj and Avi Loeb, both of whom had published on 'Oumuamua and Comet Borisov earlier also wrote a study of this meteor, suggesting its interstellar origins. If true, then this meteor which predates both 'Oumuamua and Comet Borisov by a few years would be the first known interstellar object.

Deep-sea explorers found 50 spherulesmolten droplets, about half a millimetre in diameter.

Loeb's team collected 35 milligrams of this promising material by dragging a large magnetic sled across the surface of the ocean. The astrophysicist believes that the spherules are most likely made from a steel-titanium alloy

"The spherules were found primarily along the most likely path of IM1 and not in control regions far from it," read his blog. "In the coming weeks, we will analyze their elemental and isotopic composition and report our data in a paper submitted to a peer-reviewed journal."

These sub-millimeter-sized spheres, which appear under a microscope as beautiful metallic marbles, were concentrated along the expected path of IM1 about 85 kilometers off the coast of Manus Island in Papua New Guinea.

It's just un-spectacular enough to be believable.
