Waterholes: a sacred link to life and culture in remote First Nations communities "IndyWatch Feed Capricornia"

For First Nations people, connection to Country is vital, with land and water remaining central to culture.

According to new research on male migration across remote communities in central Australia, waterholes have been shown to have significant effect on patterns of migration.

But, poisoning or damage to waterholes could impact Indigenous storytelling and knowledge sharing.

National Radio News reporter, Amy OHalloran asked Researcher at the University of South Australia Dr John Binda Reid, why waterholes are important to First Nations people.

unspoken expectation: a burden on First Nations people in workplace cultural events "IndyWatch Feed Capricornia"

Each year Australia hosts a number of observed days and weeks, dedicated to First Nations people. From Reconciliation week, and Sorry Day through to the more celebratory NAIDOC week.

However, opinions around such cultural events in the workplace are mixed, with some First Nations academics saying Indigenous people are expected to bear the brunt of planning and educating non-indigenous people during these cultural events and often without added pay.

A recent survey further highlights 39% of First Nations participants said they carry the burden of additional cultural load in the form of extra work demands.

RAAF Search and Rescue (CHC Helicopters) Agusta AW139 Helicopter VH-SYV "Choppa 42" Arrives into Rockhampton Airport - Plus More! "IndyWatch Feed Capricornia"

On Wednesday 5 July, CHC Helicopters Australia / Lloyd Helicopters Agusta AW139 helicopter VH-SYV was noted arriving into Rockhampton Airport from Townsville.

File photo

The normally Northern Territory-based rescue helicopter arrived as "Choppa 42" and has been in Townsville since mid-June operating in a support role for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Exercise High Sierra 23-1 which has wrapped up this week.

UPDATE!  On Thursday 6 July, VH-SYV "Choppa 42" continued from Rockhampton Airport to RAAF Base Amberley.

Meanwhile, also on Wednesday 5 July, the visiting Helicorp (Toll) Leonardo S.P.A. Helicopters (Agusta) AW139 helicopter VH-XIU was noted completing a flight from Rockhampton Airport to Townsend Island as "Rescue 903" (due to a clerical error!) and then back via a circuit of the Rockhampton Base Hospital as "Rescue 902" (as it should be!).

Townsville Airlines Cessna 208 Caravan VH-NXU First Visit into CQ at the Labona Station Airstrip - Plus More! "IndyWatch Feed Capricornia"

On Tuesday 4 July, it was interesting to note that Townsville Airlines Cessna 208 Caravan VH-NXU has (possibly?) made its first ever visit into Central Queensland, flying into the Labona Station Airstrip within Adani Australia's (Bravus Mining & Resources) Carmichael Coal Mine site from Cairns and then Townsville.  It then returned to those places.

File photo

VH-NXU was delivered and registered to Townsville Airlines in September 2022.  It was previously registered as N406CR.  VH-NXU seems to mostly operate out of Cairns Airport so if this is indeed its first visit to the region, it is a welcome sight!

Meanwhile, also on Tuesday 4 July, some of the 'usual' FIFO charter flights included Southern Air Beech 1900 VH-YSO visiting Moranbah Airport once again.  It arrived from Latrobe Valley and Bourke Dubbo and then departed back to Latrobe Valley and then eventually to Melbourne (Moorabbin).

DeGunst Transport P/L Textron (Cessna) 208 Caravan VH-NPZ operated from Bundaberg Airport and looked to fly in and out of Mackay Airport.  I presume the inclement weather in the area prevented it from landing at Nebo Aerodrome.

While Hinterland Aviation Cessna 208 Caravan VH-TFS also encountered bad weather and was unable to land at Mackay Airport while flying down from Townsville as HND2290.  It returned to Townsville without landing and obviously was unable to complete its usual run out to Labona.

The Queensland Police Service (Airwing) (State of Queensland) Raytheon B1900D VH-PSK flew down from Cairns and Townsville to Rockhampton Airport.  It then continued to Brisbane before later returning to Rockhampton Airport and then back to Cairns direct.

Vallee's "Forbidden Science: Volume 5" - items re the DIA and BAASS "IndyWatch Feed National"

I am continuing my re-reading of Jacques Vallee's book "Forbidden Science: Volume 5" and find small items of information which I have not read about anywhere else. They may well be small items of limited interest to others, but I document them here for future reference.

Item 1: A DIA UFO Collection Project?

Vallee, in a diary entry dated 26 March 2004, speaking of Dr. Eric W. Davis writes:

"Eric developed other sources, notably a former DIA senior officer who confirmed that DIA had a UFO collection project at one time. He promised to provide more information but died before they could meet again. His secretary found an envelope inside his desk sealed and addressed to Eric. It contained the man's notes about the project, and the real source of the fake MJ-12papers, with which the field of ufology remains fascinated. The story I was told is this: In 1961 the UFO Project inside the government, was taken over by DIA. By the early 1980's Rear Admiral E. A. Burkhalter, Jr. who was Chief of Staff and acting assistant vice director in the Directorate for Collection Management and his deputy Col. Roy K. Jonkers, USAF, were in charge of the project. They are shown in these positions on an org chart dated March 1981. The same document shows Dr. Jack Vorona as assistant vice-director for Scientific and Technical intelligence.
Burkhalter, calling himself 'Mister X' and a man named Polko, introduced as 'Falcon' decided to spread disinformation about UFOs. Apparently, Dale Graff, who monitored Hal's project on behalf of DIA, wasn't in the know. The remake of the Sandler-Emenegger documentary in which I participated was he correct platform, with the Norton episode, but when Pentagon P.R. man Colonel Coleman told us to 'go out on a limb' to draw out controversial revelations, I fortunately convinced Hynek we shouldn't take the bait.

After I had derailed the first effort to turn us into 'useful idiots,' Rear Admiral Burkhalter and Polko contacted Bill Moore and Linda Howe, and reportedly s...

Garden of Eden- the First Recorded WitchHunt "IndyWatch Feed National"

The following article is almost 30 years old and is as relevant today as it would be at any time in history when discussing the patriarchy, demonising of women and mens propensity to link women to the devil.

Jung would refer to this as men projecting their shadow upon women.

The article is by Joel Achenbach and exposes the Garden of Eden story as the first time that women are directly associated with the Devil in Christianitys misogynistic propaganda and the devastating implications that the demonising of women had then and continues to have today.

Garden of Eden the earliest linking of women to the devil:

From the article:

Question: Why are women historically considered the willing agents of Satan?

Answer: This goes back to the biblical story of the Garden of Eden. The Devil wants Adam and Eve to disobey Gods order not to eat the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge (we heard recently that scholars think it was a tomato, though wed like to see the footnotes before we sign off on that). So what does old Beelzebub do? Disguised as a snake, he tempts Eve. The woman is the conduit to the man.

Eve succumbs, then seduces Adam into eating the fruit as well. Chaos erupts: They realise theyre as naked as a couple of jaybirds, they get booted from the garden, and eventually the federal deficit reaches $400 billion a year.

The mythical prejudice had horrifying results in real life: The vast majority of people executed in the Salem witchcraft trials 300 years ago were women; the men were, in most cases, relatives or associates of women suspected of witchcraft. The same pattern held true in the even bloodier witch hunts of Europe. To blame this on misogyny seems too simplistic.

Carol Karlsen, a professor of history and womens studies at the University of Michigan and author of The Devil in the Shape of a Woman, says there may also have been an economic motive. Many of the women accused of being witches at Salem had no sons or brothers, meaning that they were in line to inherit family wealth, Karlsen says.

There is a real fear of female power thats increasing in the 16th century in Europe, says Tom Robisheaux, a professor of history at Duke University. He said that priests feared female sexual power and the way women cou...

Australian Charter of Human Rights will be a powerful tool to protect human rights "IndyWatch Feed National"

The Albanese Government must seize the moment to introduce an Australian Charter of Human Rights to guide government decision making, prevent breaches of human rights and provide access to justice, the Charter campaign today told a parliamentary inquiry.

In a submission to the Parliamentary Inquiry into Australias Human Rights Framework, the campaign, made up of over 90 organisations including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people with a disability, women, children, older persons, LGBTIQ+ people, and people from migrant and refugee communities, provided evidence that a Charter will benefit the whole community by:

  • preventing human rights violations

  • providing a powerful tool to challenge injustice; and

  • fostering understanding and respect for human rights

Australia is the only western liberal democracy without a Charter of Human Rights or similar in our laws. A Charter would mean governments must consider peoples human rights when creating new laws and policies, and delivering services like aged care, Medicare, disability services, and education funding. People could also take action and seek justice if their rights are violated.

The inquiry is due to report back on 31 March 2024.

Quotes attributed to Dr Cassandra Goldie, Australian Council of Social Services:

"People on low incomes are at increased risk of experiencing human rights violations. We urge the Government to introduce a Charter of Human Rights that recognises the interdependence of human rights and income inequality and strengthens social and economic rights."

Quotes attributed to Helen Dalley-Fisher, Convenor of the Equality Rights Alliance:

From Robodebt to ParentsNext, women have been disproportionately impacted by human rights violations enacted from government policies in Australia. A Charter of Human Rights would protect everyones human rights, and ensure government decisions and policies must consider womens rights. When governments think seriously  about womens human rights we get better policy, which means whole communities benefit.

Quotes attributed to Nicole Lee, President of People with Disability Australia:

Every disabled person should have equal access to human rights just like everyone else in our society, such as an inclusive education alongside our peers, quality health and mental health care, and dignified treatment that involves upholding our choices. Yet we have a Royal Commissions worth of stories of systemic human rights failures endured by disabled people. Thats why we need enforceable human rights protections at the heart of our laws through a Charter of Human Rights so that disabled people can participate equally in all aspects...

Whistleblower calls on government to act on KPMG and the rest of the consultancy industry "IndyWatch Feed National"

Contributed from Victoria

A whistleblower and former partner at multinational consulting firm KPMG has called on the Australian government to establish a Royal Commission into the industry, Back in 2021, Brendan Lyon, informed a parliamentary inquiry in NSW that he had been pressured by KPMG to alter records, to change the figures in the States budget. More specifically, on the NSW governments Transport Asset Holding Entity (TAHE).

He alleged that senior figures in the firm had conflicts of interest in relation to this.

Photo by Kate Geraghty: Brendan Lyon appears before the Senate parliamentary inquiry

KPMG responded by admitting it had contributed to complicating the situation and promised better practices in the future. But there has never been an admittance of deliberate wrongdoing. There was no proper investigation in NSW, even though the Australian division of KPMG had been fined $AU165,000 by the United Sates watchdog for cheating on online tests designed to improve professional safety requirements and ensure partners and staff act with integrity.

Brendan Lyon has now told the Senate inquiry that there is a need for a much more thorough investigation of the industry.

This comes in the wake of the PwC scandal. KPMG and PwC are two of the big four consulting US based multinationals dominating the industry. Together, they Carry out audits for the big corporations and government. This places them in an advantageous position to build extensive network that provide the grounds for conflicts of interest and corrupt practices to flourish.

Information is worth a great deal of money, and it is clear information has been passed on in breach of confidentiality requirements.

An investigation into their practices will contribute to uncovering the extend of it in Australia. The regulator has already found cases involving all the four. The big question is why hasnt this been acted on already?

Lyon called on the federal government to implement a default five-year ban on big four accounting firms found in serious breach of professional ethics by the new commonwealth regulator.

He also called for a ban on political donations.

In respect of its own procurement and management of consultants, the commonwealth should implement similar restrictions and obligations on public sector consultants to those bindi...

Keeping it fake: the legal and ethical implications of synthetic data "IndyWatch Feed National"

It may seem counter-intuitive, but even synthetic data can have privacy impacts.

Companies and governments alike demand masses of data for operational, policy and research uses, but between large scale data breaches and the re-identification of published datasets, privacy risks abound.

Is synthetic data the solution?

There are a number of use cases for which synthetic data might be proposed as safer than real data.  These include:

  • training new staff how to use a CRM system before letting them loose with a login
  • developing new patient management software
  • demonstrating how a data analytics program could work to map or analyse customer journeys
  • testing whether protected taxation data will be useful for a research project before going to the effort of applying to access the real data, or
  • generating fake student records at scale for an education-themed hackathon.

However as we discovered on a deep dive into this topic for a client recently, there can still be privacy impacts arising from synthetic data, such that both legal and ethical risks need to be carefully managed.

What is synthetic data?

Entirely fake data could be generated from scratch, but to do so is time-consuming, difficult to do at scale, and the result would likely not look real.  Unless the same statistical properties have been carried across from real data, fake data will likely not be useful for anything.  Hence the market for synthetic data.

The Canadian Privacy Commissioner defines synthetic data as fake data produced by an algorithm whose goal is to retain the same statistical properties as some real data, but with no one-to-one mapping between records in the synthetic data and the real data.  The UKs ICO has a similar definition.

The idea is to produce fake data that looks real, because it retains the same structure and level of granularity as the original.  But without including any links back to the real data,  synthetic data should in theory resolve the privacy risks found when using the original data.

How is synthetic data made?

To develop synthetic records at scale, in a way which generates data that is realistic enough to be useful, but without any one-to-one mapping which could led to ready identification of real people, requires a source dataset containing the real records, and a generative model.

The source dataset

This is the original dataset containing records about a gro...

Human Rights Law Centre joins Whistleblowing International Network "IndyWatch Feed National"

The Human Rights Law Centre has become a member of the Whistleblowing International Network (WIN), the global peak body for whistleblower protection organisations.

The Human Rights Law Centre has a long history advocating for stronger whistleblower protections in Australia, and is recognised as a leading source of policy expertise in the field. In August, the Centre is launching the Whistleblower Project a landmark, Australia-first legal service to protect and empower whistleblowers.

Established in 2018, WIN is the global membership network and information hub for the whistleblower protection community, with members in more than 25 countries. WINs membership includes non-profit organisations that provide access to free legal advice and support to whistleblowers. WINs members share expertise and collaborate with those working to protect whistleblowers.

In early July, WINs membership committee unanimously endorsed the Human Rights Law Centres membership application.

Kieran Pender, Senior Lawyer at the Human Rights Law Centre, said:

By exposing human rights abuses, government wrongdoing and corporate misconduct, whistleblowers make Australia a better place. The Human Rights Law Centres Whistleblower Project will enable us to protect and empower whistleblowers and we have benefited immensely from the global expertise of the Whistleblowing International Network in preparing the project.

Anna Myers, Executive Director of the Whistleblowing International Network, said:

Protecting whistleblowers helps ensure the free flow of information for the responsible exercise of authority. Yet global experience has shown that even the best whistleblowing laws on paper do not work in practice without sustained effort from civil society. We are delighted to welcome the Human Rights Law Centre to our membership and are proud to have assisted the Centre in the formation of their Whistleblower Project which will be a huge boost for Australias whistleblowers.

The Fake China Threat, Then and Now "IndyWatch Feed National"

By Joseph Solis-Mullen | The Libertarian Institute | July 5, 2023

Republicans are terrible on China. Examples abound, but perhaps the most instructive illustration of this long-term handicap comes from the following quotation:

We must be prepared to go it alone in China if our allies desert us. We must not fool ourselves into thinking we can avoid taking up arms with the Chinese Reds. If we dont fight them in China and Formosa [Taiwan] well be fighting them in San Francisco, in Seattle, in Kansas City.1

This wasnt excerpted from a recent speech by Senator Tom Cotton (R-AK). Rather, it was by then-Senate Majority Leader William Knowland (R-CA), in the January 1954 edition of Colliers Magazine. While perhaps particularly rabid in his Sinophobia, President Dwight D. Eisenhower privately opined that Knowland has no foreign policy, except to develop high blood pressure whenever he mentions Red ChinaIn his case, there seems to be no final answer to the question, How stupid can you get?2 The parallels between Knowlands time and our own are significant. Representing the respective nadirs of Sino-American relations, they are worth considering in depth.

First, a necessary bit of high-level background.

In 1949 Mao Zedong and the Chinese Communist Party defeated the nominally republican forces of Chiang Kai-shek. Despite internal warnings that this was likely to happen, Chiang and his nationalist cronies being thieves, every last one of themcorrupt as they come according to President Harry Truman, this kicked off a firestorm in Washington3. Who lost China? subsequently became a driving force of the Second Red Scare that consumed American politics, distorting perceptions and constraining the ability of even the most powerful figures, such as Eisenhower or Secretary of State Dean Acheson, to act towards China in the more rational manner they would have liked.

Dean Acheson had presciently forecast as early as 1950 that Mao could be an Asian Tito, a disruptor of communist unity akin to the Yugoslav leader, Josip Broz Tito, Stalins bte noire. As...

The Intriguing Science Behind Rains Aroma: Can You Smell When The Rain Is Coming? "IndyWatch Feed National"

Have you ever found yourself standing at the threshold of your home on a sizzling summer day, or on a crisp, bone-chilling winter afternoon, convinced you could smell the rain coming? As it turns out, this phenomenon isnt universally experienced, leading many to question if its rooted in scientific fact or if it merely exists as a whimsical myth.

If youve browsed through social media on a particularly cloudy day, you might have noticed a polarizing debate: there are those who assertively proclaim their unique ability to predict rainfall through olfactory cues, while others appear notably doubtful. However, regardless of which camp youre in, theres some fascinating evidence that supports the concept of pre-rain odors. Numerous factors contribute to this olfactory phenomenon, with a primary component being the enchanting scent known as petrichor.

The Mesmerizing Mystique of Petrichor

Petrichor, a term rooted in Greek with petros meaning stone and ichor standing for the ethereal fluid coursing through the veins of ancient gods, represents the intoxicating, earthy aroma that pervades the atmosphere post rainfall, especially following a prolonged dry spell. Mineralogists Isabel Joy Bear and Richard Thomas first introduced this term to the world in 1964, unwittingly kindling widespread fascination with this mysterious smell.

Though petrichor consistently ranks among favorite natural fragrances for many people, the reason behind its appealing allure wasnt understood until recently. In an enlightening 2020 study, researchers discovered the tantalizing scent of petrichor wasnt just enticing to humans but proved irresistible to a variety of other animals as well.

Asian NATO: another failed plan by Washington "IndyWatch Feed National"

By Viktor Mikhin New Eastern Outlook 05.07.2023

There are increasing reports in the world media that the US-led NATO military alliance is planning to expand into the Asia-Pacific region. The idea was originally introduced by US President Joe Biden at the East Asia Summit on October 27, 2021, where he said: We envision an Indo-Pacific region that is open, interconnected, prosperous, resilient and secure and we are ready to work together with each of you to achieve this. The White House later issued a report titled Indo-Pacific Strategy of the United States on February 11, 2022, outlining President Joe Bidens strategy to reestablish American leadership in the Indo-Pacific region.

Among the remarks in the so-called newsletter that stood out was the declared necessity for the US to strengthen ties with Asian countries in order to tackle the urgent task of competing with China. But, according to its authors, NATO, which was formed to defend Europe against a fabricated Soviet threat, is allegedly a peace-loving alliance. In reality, it has evolved into a militarily aggressive bloc with a dominant presence in the North Atlantic region. This peace-loving coalition has militarized the continent to the point where war has broken out in Europe for the first time since World War II.

The question arises, do the countries of the Asia-Pacific region want to see their region also heavily militarized under the strict guardianship not only of the United States, but also of European peace-loving NATO? Jens Stoltenberg, the secretary general of this peace-loving bloc, insists on increasing the military alliances activities in Asia, as he stated publicly earlier this year during a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. The peacemaker from Europe said: What happens in Asia matters for Europe and what happens in Europe matters for Asia, and therefore it is even more important that NATO Allies are strengthening our partnership with our Indo Pacific partners.

According to Japans Nikkei newspaper, NATO will establish a liaison office in Tokyo in 2024 and use it as a center for cooperation with Australia, Japan, New Zealand and South Korea. Geographically, these four countries are close to China and other states in the region. It should be emphasized that they are all strategically placed in the Asia-Pacific region and have common interests with the US and NATO, or serve them faithfully.

It doesnt take a genius to figure out that their target in this situation is China. Speaking at a May 26 press briefing, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson rightly noted that NATOs attempt to intervene in the Asia-Pacific region eastward would inevitably undermine regional peace and stability...

I Hope To God I Am Wrong: Climate Change Going Through The Roof "IndyWatch Feed National"

Why are we at Media Lens utterly terrified by climate collapse while other people we know are mildly concerned, blithely indifferent or cockily contrarian?

The simple answer is that we are doing this full-time and doing this includes reading the unfiltered reports and thoughts of top climate scientists on social media all day, every day.

Whenever we take a break from social media, the tendrils of the corporate body-snatchers again start to insinuate themselves. We are soothed by entertainment, by infotainment, by presstitute prestidigitation normalising the unthinkable. Despite a mountain of evidence, we are assured that the crisis is under the management of fundamentally decent, rational leaders. Yes, dear reader, our sense of crisis also abates.

There are two key responses to news of the latest climate disasters:

Its bad, but not that bad. Its manageable and we can carry on pretty much as normal.

An alternative take:

No, it is that bad. This is just the ball starting to roll it will gather more and more and more momentum, and it wont stop. We need drastic change now!

The second of these is inarguably correct. The first is the underlying message delivered by state-corporate media that have an existential vested interest in the status quo, in discouraging us from seeking serious change. And this is exactly why the level of public alarm does not yet reflect the terrifying, rollercoaster reality depicted in the soaring and crashing graphs measuring temperatures and ice coverage.

Professor Bill McGuire, Emeritus Professor of Geophysical and Climate Hazards at University College London, tweeted last month:

I hope to God I am wrong, but to me, it is looking increasingly as if we have reached some sort of tipping point, with the global temperature, sea-surface temperature, ice loss, and other parameters, all going through the roof.

McGuire was responding to reports...

050723 MEMBER ON AMBULANCES FOR SOUTH BOUGAINVILLE
NEW DAWN FM NEWS

The member for South Bougainville and Minister for ICT, HON TIMOTHY MASIU has called on the people to look after ambulances donated to Health facilities in South Bougainville to serve the patients.
Speaking on New Dawn FM from Port Moresby this morning, Minister Masiu said that they have bought ambulances for South Bougainville but have yet to allocate to the health facilities in South Bougainville.
The Minister did not disclose the number of ambulances but said he secured some through partnership arrangements that are yet to confirm.
The Minister said he was concerned at the trend in which many donated ambulances have been taken by so called service providers to the health facilities.
He said these problems continue to downgrade the service provision by these health facilities.
Commenting on the road situation at Laluai, the Minister said that if the people have allowed the Tonolei project to operate, the company could have fixed these roads for free under their community service obligations.
He said we disturb services and continue to ask for services.

With Nix, Bitcoin Projects Can Accelerate Contributions And Deployment "IndyWatch Feed National"

This is an opinion editorial by niftynei, a developer educator who runs the Base58 Bitcoin protocol academy and an organizer of the upcoming, Nix-focused Bitcoin++ conference.

When you want to install a new app on your computer, where do you get it from?

Deciding which source to use is a problem that's surprisingly difficult to solve, but it's one that every computing platform struggles with.

Before the internet was widespread, new software packages were distributed on hard media, like CDs or Core, for example, you'd need to buy it physically at the store or have it mailed to you. You'd then load the disk or USB stick into your computer, and make a copy of the new software onto your local disk.

As a developer writing code, you'd have to physically hand out copies of your programs to friends and family. Or you'd work for a large corporation that had relationships with companies and computer stores, which would figure out how to get the software you wrote distributed to their clients and customers.

With the advent of always-connected computers, the landscape of software distribution forever changed. Now, instead of having to physically pick up a copy of the bits in a program, you can easily download a copy of it from the internet.

This made it much easier for new developers to write apps that anyone can download. The problem now, however, is answering the question: Where on the internet should users download the new software from?

The Hacker's App Store

The way that mobile phone ecosystems solve the problem of new application distribution is through a program on your phone called the "App Store" (or the "Google Play store" on Android).

Developers upload the latest copy of their apps to either Apple's or Google's servers. Those companies then send out a silent notification to all of the phones that have the app installed, and the app gets updated in the background on users' phones, without the users involvement.

If you're a user and you want to add a new app to your phone, in most cases you'll be able to find it in the App Store, and download it from there.

But not all software is available as a mobile phone app. Some software projects are desktop apps or tools that developers use to write new pieces of software. These applications need a distribution channel too. On desktop operating systems, we tend to call the "App Store" software by the term "package managers." They manage the packages of software that you download onto your computer.

Modern package managers consist of a central server, sometimes the app, and a client-side application which runs on the package user's computer.

If you're a developer, you've probably run into homebrew or...

Lies, Lies, and the Cause of Autism, Part 1: Wonderful Smackdown by RFK, Jr, on Vaccine Safety "IndyWatch Feed National"

by Mary W Maxwell, LLB

Dear Australians, You may be assuming that a man who is the nephew of the slain JFK and the son of the slain RFK is getting good media coverage in his bid for 2024 presidential nomination.

Wrong.  The MSM are doing their best to make him look stupid and dangerous.  In the above interview, he makes the US government look more stupid and dangerous than we could have imagined.

I have now gone to the two offending websites, HHS and CDC, to fetch for you some material by those two quasi-governmental organizations. (Thats Dept of Health and Human Services, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, two wholly unconstitutional.) Kennedy accuses them of lying.

The day on which I retrieved the following statements about the safety of vaccines, and the non-relation of vaccines to autism. is July 4, 2023.  In a fortnight I will re-fetch, to see if he HHS and CDC will bother to back down.

By the way, RFK, Jr has been going at this for 18 years.  His famous interview at Salon.com took place on June 20, 2006. Salon soon scrubbed it, however.

In my 2011 book, Prosecution for Treason, I stated:

I  speculate  autism  was  loosed  on  the  population  deliberately. This may have been for the purpose of studying the workings of the normal mind, obliquely.   Or perhaps to cause distress in families. Causing distress is part of Tavistockian strategy of tension.

Now please watch the Kennedy video above, and then read this:

Jordan's response to questions about the disappeared Turkish-Emirati dual national Khalaf al-Romaithi have only raised further queries, say the MP who posed the questions, Romaithi's lawyer and rights groups.

Romaithi, 58, was detained in Amman on 7 May after an iris scan at Queen Alia Airport revealed an Emirati warrant for his arrest. He was initially released on bail, but then later arrested by plainclothed police officers, and was due to have his case heard in court on 16 May.

After an initial court hearing on 9 May, Romaithi has not been seen by his lawyers and family.

A week later, Emirati state media reported that he had been "received" in the UAE. A Turkish official told interested parties that Romaithi was taken by a private plane to the UAE on 12 May.

But neither his exact whereabouts, nor how he ended up in the UAE have been clarified publicly by the UAE, Jordan or Turkey, who have remained silent on the topic - until the release this week of answers to parliamentary questions raised by Jordanian MP Adnan Mashuqa in May.

Exposed, the multi-billion-dollar illusion of HIV: Part 2 "IndyWatch Feed National"

Readers of TCW will be familiar with Neville Hodgkinsons critical reporting of the Covid crisis since December 2020, notably his expert, science-based informed alarm about the mass vaccine rollout, so absent from mainstream coverage. What they may be less aware of is the international storm this former Sunday Times medical and science correspondent created in the 1990s by reporting a scientific challenge to the HIV theory of Aids, presaging the hostile response to science critics of Covid today. In this series he details findings that form the substance of his newly updated and expanded book, How HIV/Aids Set the Stage for the Covid Crisis, on the controversy. It is available here. You can read the first part of this series here.

By Neville Hodgkinson | TCW Defending Freedom | July 4, 2023

When an idea is fervently adopted by most of the worlds doctors, scientists and politicians and supported by millions of people, it is a tall order to make the case for a rethink. Such was the experience of biophysicist Eleni Papadopulos-Eleopulos, who 40 years ago developed a detailed theory about Aids that contradicts the generally accepted belief that a deadly virus, HIV, is the cause. Decades of unremitting censorship and rejection preceded her death from heart failure in March 2022, aged 85.

Her story has important, and disturbing, implications for our understanding of what has been happening with the Covid crisis.

Born in Greek Macedonia, she and her brother Dmitris were part of a kinder diaspora sent to Eastern Europe to escape the Greek civil war of 1946-49. She was cared for well, and graduated with a Masters degree in nuclear physics from the University of Bucharest, Romania.

In 1965, at the age of 29, she was reunited with her family in Perth, Western Australia, where they had emigrated. She learned English and joined the staff of the medical physics department at the Royal Perth Hospital, remaining on the books there for more than half a century.

In September 1976 she married Kosta Eleopulos, also a child sent to Romania who eventually found his way to Australia. She blamed herself for his death, five years later, from gastric cancer, believing she should have been able to save him with the knowledge she had acquired.

A second McDonnell-Douglas UAP study in the 1970's? - A preliminary article "IndyWatch Feed National"

Introduction

I am continuing my steady re-reading of Jacques Vallee's "Forbidden Science: Volume 5." There are a wealth of interesting little pieces of information to be digested slowly; just like the French food which Vallee frequently refers to in his diary entries.

It is now common knowledge that the McDonnell-Douglas company conducted an in-house study of UAP between 1967-1969. The leader of this internal company study was Robert M. Wood. Wood published a few details of the project in the July/August 1993 issue of the "International UFO Reporter" in an article "A Little Physics....A Little Friction: A Close Encounter with the Condon Committee" and in much more detail in the October 2008 "MUFON Journal" in an article titled "McDonnell Douglas Studied UFOs in 1960's." There are a number of websites where you can read around 275 pages of documentation of this 1967-1969 study. I posted an article about the project and the contents of some of this documentation on 22 September 2020.

A second McDonnell Douglas study in the 70's?

Now, when reading "Forbidden Science: Volume 5" I came across references to what appears to have been a separate, and second McDonnell-Douglas UAP study. Below, I extract a number of sections of Vallee's diary entries, from "Forbidden Science: Volume 2,3 and 5" concerning McDonnell-Douglas.

While Rich Eye Off Imaginary Planet B, Theres Still Life On Planet A "IndyWatch Feed National"

Environmentalists have long pointed out that there is no Planet B. If we stuff up this one, it could be game over for humanity at worst, or a descent into an anarchic Hobbesian war of all against all, at best. Unfortunately, writes Professor Mark Beeson, no-one seems to have told the worlds plutocrats, who are literally taking conspicuous consumption to new heights.

Virgin Galactic has just inaugurated a form of space tourism that will take three or four passengers for a 90-minute joyride 50 miles above the surface of the Earth, where they can experience weightlessness and enjoy what one assumes is a pretty impressive view. The cost? About $450,000, plus a suitably super-sized contribution to the worlds ever-increasing CO2 emissions, of course.

Back on Planet A things arent much better. On the same day Virgin was entering what can only be called the space space, it was revealed that a microscopic Louis Vuitton bag sold for more than $60,000. The phrase more money than sense comes to mind, but this hardly does justice to the compassionless self-absorption necessary to do this at any time, let alone when so many face existential crises that they risk their lives to escape.

The jarring difference in the worlds response to the deaths of an estimated 600 or so people who drowned recently while trying to cross from Libya to Italy on an overcrowded 30-meter fishing vessel, and the five explorers who died on a sight-seeing trip to the wreck of the Titanic, is another telling illustration of lifes enduring inequities on Planet A.

The Titan, which was recently destroyed on a trip to visit the wreck of the Titanic.

Whatever your view of Titanic tourism, the reality is that not many of us have the necessary $300,000 odd to pay for the ticket even if we wanted to. The us in this case, of course, is the relatively wealthy population of the north, the developed world, or wha...

Okay We Get It. The Poms Are Whingers, Aussies Are Cheaters. In Other News. "IndyWatch Feed National"

Before we head off down that path again you know, the one where we all wake up a week from now with ranters regret after engaging in lengthy debates about things that mean absolutely nothing maybe we all should stop, take a breath, and ponder whether cricket is really that important after all, writes Chris Graham.

Last week, Australia was transfixed with the story of a missing submersible containing a rich buffoon and four unfortunate passengers, who were drifting around the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean trying to catch a glimpse of the Titanic.

Alas, their dodgy craft imploded before it could be located and pulled from the water by an armada of planes and ships, who were apparently far less interested in the sinking of a boat in the Mediterranean which claimed the lives of hundreds of asylum seekers.

Now this week, we have the Ashes scandal, or Stump-gate as media have inevitably taken to calling it. You have to wonder just how much fluff a nation can embrace.

This is, Im told, a sporting tale of extreme importance. National importance, even. One which involves a man in silly white pants rolling a red ball at a set of stumps, while another man in silly white pants walks a few feet away from the stumps when he really shouldnt have. Apparently, that was because another man (in black pants with a silly white hat) had not yet said the word Over, thus he was subsequently forced to raise one finger into the air and instead proclaim the word Out.

All of which sparked an international incident. Or in cricketing parlance, a Pom walked out of his crease and was run out by the wicketkeeper.

Thankfully, this bizarre but thoroughly fascinating and crucially important debate can be resolved in two simple paragraphs.

Paragraph one: Generally speaking, England is crap at sport, especially any sport they claim to have invented, especially cricket. Thus, more often than not they lose to Australia. So its not at all surprising theyre crying foul now, even though what happened was common-place, entirely within the rule...

AFTINET joins civil society in calling for the release of IPEF pillar 2 agreement and current texts "IndyWatch Feed National"

July 5, 2023: The Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF) is a new regional forum initiated by the US  that proponents say will strengthen economic cooperation between its 14 participants and divert supply chains away from China. IPEF, unlike traditional trade agreements, does not include market access commitments like lower tariffs. Instead, the main incentives are increased investment and capacity building projects (you can read more about the 'Four Pillars' negotiating objectives of IPEF here).

IPEF recently announced the substantial conclusion of negotiations for pillar 2, which aims to increase the resilience and sustainability of supply chains amongst the 14 members, following a Ministers meeting in Detroit in May. However, the text of the agreement has not been released and civil society is now calling for greater transparency from trade ministers ahead of the next round of IPEF negotiations from July 8 in Busan, South Korea.

IPEF is being promoted as a new model of trade arrangements with greater consultation with civil society. Yet the secrecy of the text means that civil society is unable to assess the agreement or ensure those benefits are real, and not a repeat of the trade agreements designed to benefit powerful states and transnational corporations.

By failing to release the texts and ensure the transparency of negotiations, IPEF negotiators not only deny the public and civil society meaningful input to ensure that the self-defined IPEF outcomes of fairness, collaboration and inclusivity are met, but also risk repeating the problematic approaches to free trade agreements that has led to their deep unpopularity.

AFTINET has joined with 16 civil society groups from IPEF countries in signing a letter to leaders and ministers participating in the IPEF negotiations in Busan to release the Pillar 2 agreement and other negotiating texts. You can read the full letter here.

The Reserve Bank  opted to keep interest rates at 4.1% on the back of better inflation figures.  The pause also will allow them to better assess how the interest rate strategy is working according to Governor Philip Lowe.

Many economists are also warning that we could tip into recession if accumulated rate hikes push too many people over the edge.

Australia is doing better than many other OECD nations however the US and New Zealand are both higher.

Is peppers port douglas worth it? "IndyWatch Feed Capricornia"

We are a family of 5 coming from Melbourne and looking for the quintessential tropical getaway. So ideally would like a resort with nice pools for the kids and so parents can relax with a cocktail. I also like the idea of being able to walk into town freely and walk back to hotel from dinner at night. Rather not hire a car. Seems like peppers is one of the only nice resorts that is walkable. But is quite a lot more expensive than other accommodation I've looked at. I'm trying to justify it by the savings we'd have from not hiring a car but not sure... I've read mixed reviews.

Any advice?

Saltbushes Bloom As Our Next Big El Nino Lurks "IndyWatch Feed National"

Sheep and cattle farmers across Australias south east have begun planting an elite variety of Old Man Saltbush this winter, to supplement feed during dryer conditions in anticipation of a potential El Nino predicted to cause widespread droughts in Australia in the coming years.

Anameka Saltbush is a specially selected variety of the drought-tolerant native shrub, developed over 15 years by the CSIRO, with partners in government and industry. Its unique for its higher nutritional value and improved palatability for livestock and its potential to regenerate the topsoil of land that is too saline or infertile. Its fast-growing, and occurs naturally in WA, SA, NT, Vic, NSW and Queensland.

Saltbush is generally not the first choice of feed for livestock, but its a genuine supplement when pastures have dried up. Even humans can eat it the seeds and leaves of Old Man Saltbush have long been a staple in bush tucker circles. It can be used like a leafy vegetable or salad, blanched or sauted, wrapped around meat or fish, or used as a stuffing for poultry. You can even dry it, for use as an herb. It has, as you might expect, a salty flavour, and is rich in protein, antioxidants and minerals.

Dr Hayley Norman selected Anameka Saltbush from 60,000 plants. (IMAGE: Damien Smith Photography, Supplied)

CSIRO agricultural scientist, Dr Hayley Norman, says that during dry years when there is a shortage of available feed, Anameka saltbush can provide key nutrients that improve livestock productivity and health.

Anameka Saltbush is a moderate-energy, high crude protein and sulphur feed source that is full of essential minerals and antioxidants, Dr Norman said. It grows well on most landscapes, and once established, Anameka Saltbush can become a living haystack for grazing livestock for more than 20 years if managed correctly.

CSIROs Drought Resilience Mission is driving wider adoption of Anameka Saltbush in drought-prone regions across southeast A...

Marine Le Pen likely to be next French President "IndyWatch Feed National"

Alexander Mercouris of the Duran makes a good summary of what is happening in French politics at the moment in this short embedded video. Inside I make some comments.

Alexander Mercouris's statement that France has a lot of independent media strikes me as generous, since the mainstream has been dominated by a US-syndicated newsmedia for years now, with state channels that sound just like ABC Australia.  But French populations are far more localised than most other 'modern' states, retaining a more clan-based population distribution , thus able to transmit political and other knowledge through generations in other ways. Le Pen's representatives gained ground initially in regional elections. (See my new book, Sheila Newman, , (2023)). France is still slightly protected by having its own language, thus suffering less censorship from youtube etc, and it retains public intellectuals who seem just now to be waking from a kind of coma induced by Anglosphere-EU-influenced political correctness.

This awakening is probably the result of not being able to stand the crazy EU narrative accompanying the Ukraine-Russia war, along with the economic fall out and the massive wave of Ukrainian refugees. The revolts of the urban lower classes may also be partly influenced, especially where they have Muslim demographics, by disgust with France-NATO's conduct in Africa and the Middle East, which the rise of BRICs and its own news-services has brought into relief.  The use of VPNs to get round France's EU-dictated censorship of non-NATO-vetted news would be particularly high in this diaspora and among French intellectuals.  We can only hope that some of Australia's immigrant populations may be similarly well-informed, enough to affect the sickening drone of public propaganda that dominates Australia felix.

(Alexander Mercouris is, by the way, from a famous Greek political family. His father was a Greek partisan and he was nephew of the politically influent...

Chris Hedges: They lied about Afghanistan. They lied about Iraq. And they are lying about Ukraine "IndyWatch Feed National"

Chris Hedges, American war correspondent, investigative journalist, and winner of the prestigious Pulitzer Prize, has created a storm for his revelations about the war in Ukraine. In this article (Scheerpost 2 July 2023), Hedges writes about the lies and misrepresentation used by Washington to prosecute wars in the past are being used over Ukraine. This is another war to serve US interests. The armaments industry, serviced by the pimps of war.

The playbook the pimps of war use to lure us into one military fiasco after another, including Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria and now Ukraine, does not change. Freedom and democracy are threatened. Evil must be vanquished. Human rights must be protected. The fate of Europe and NATO, along with a rules based international order is at stake. Victory is assured.

The Ukraine flag is the present mascot to cover the lies for justifying war

The results are also the same. The justifications and narratives are exposed as lies. The cheery prognosis is false. Those on whose behalf we are supposedly fighting are as venal as those we are fighting against.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine was a war crime, although one that was provoked by NATO expansion and by the United States backing of the 2014 Maidan coup which ousted the democratically elected Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych. Yanukovych wanted eco...

Die Debatte um Sicherheitsgarantien "IndyWatch Feed National"

Russland demilitarisieren

A sobering analysis of what it might take to overcome vaccine skepticism "IndyWatch Feed National"

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. epitomizes the modern American success story. He has no notable achievements of his own but because of inherited family wealth and the well-known Kennedy name (he is the son of the late Robert F. Kennedy), he has the kind of influence that is so helpful in staying relevant. In fact, the success of the entire Kennedy clan can be traced back to the ambitions of his wealthy grandfather Joseph Kennedy who paved the way to elite education and political success for his descendants.

Kennedy has now entered the contest for the Democratic nomination for president. He is a notorious anti-vaccine crusader and this will simply give him a platform to further propagate his views, while the family name will give him more publicity. Indeed his anti-vaccine misinformation got him banned from Facebook and Instagram and he used the loophole of his candidacy to get back on those platforms. He is also a hypocrite. While making all manner of outlandish and offensive claims about the dangers of vaccines, when he hosted a party at his home, he urged all guests to be vaccinated or be tested for Covid-19. He has also profited greatly from his anti-vaccine stance.

In an interview with On The Medias Brandy Zadrozny, Paul Offit, a pediatrician and inventor of the vaccine against rotavirus, describes an interaction he had with Kennedy.

Almost 20 years ago, he called me on the phone. He said that there were a number of women who had come into his office and were concerned about vaccines and vaccine safety. He was trying to find a way to reassure them, could I help him? We had a conversation for about maybe an hour that I thought went really well. I thought I answered his questions and felt good about the whole thing.

But Kennedy then published a 4,700-word hit piece on Offit and vaccines that was published in. Rolling Stone magazine, that was subsequently debunked by researchers and journalists and ultimately retracted. But the damage was done. There is little doubt that it was the Kennedy name that eased the path to publication because he has no credentials in this area whatsoever.

Offit says that vaccines are victims of their own success. They have managed to eliminate or reduce the extent of so many diseases that people have forgotten what it...

Washingtons Real Policy Toward China "IndyWatch Feed National"

Washingtons Real Policy Toward China

After an intense escalation between the US and China over the formers persistence in containing the rise of the latter, and particularly over US interference with the island province of Taiwan, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken traveled to Beijing supposedly to repair tattered US-Chinese relations.

As part of the process, Secretary Blinken even publicly recited the US One China Policy, acknowledging that the US does not support Taiwan independence. However, even while acknowledging Chinas sovereignty over Taiwan, Secretary Blinken reiterated US responsibilities under the unilateral Taiwan Relations Act making sure Taiwan has the ability to defend itself, or in other words, selling arms to Taiwan without Beijings approval and thus trampling Chinese sovereignty.

Following this, US President Joe Biden would refer to Chinese President Xi Jinping as a dictator during a speech featured on the official White House website. Days later, Secretary Blinken would affirm President Bidens comments, as reported by US government-funded media outlet Voice of America in their article, US Officials Agree: Chinas Xi Is a Dictator.

Why is the United States attempting to appear to be pursuing diplomacy while deliberately sabotaging any improvement in US-Chinese relations?

Before answering this question, it is important to understand just how...

Interstellar Alloy Recovered From Pacific Floor? "IndyWatch Feed Niugini"

https://earthsky.org/space/interstellar-meteor-papua-new-guinea-2014-u-s-space-command/

In 2019, two researchers from Harvard University Amir Siraj and Avi Loeb, both of whom had published on 'Oumuamua and Comet Borisov earlier also wrote a study of this meteor, suggesting its interstellar origins. If true, then this meteor which predates both 'Oumuamua and Comet Borisov by a few years would be the first known interstellar object.

https://www.hindustantimes.com/world-news/harvard-scientist-avi-loeb-claims-collected-remains-of-extraterrestrial-technology-from-bottom-of-the-pacific-101688188241635.html

Deep-sea explorers found 50 spherulesmolten droplets, about half a millimetre in diameter.

Loeb's team collected 35 milligrams of this promising material by dragging a large magnetic sled across the surface of the ocean. The astrophysicist believes that the spherules are most likely made from a steel-titanium alloy

"The spherules were found primarily along the most likely path of IM1 and not in control regions far from it," read his blog. "In the coming weeks, we will analyze their elemental and isotopic composition and report our data in a paper submitted to a peer-reviewed journal."

https://avi-loeb.medium.com/summary-of-the-successful-interstellar-expedition-61ff4467070d

These sub-millimeter-sized spheres, which appear under a microscope as beautiful metallic marbles, were concentrated along the expected path of IM1 about 85 kilometers off the coast of Manus Island in Papua New Guinea.

A few things to factor in: - We don't have a budget (happy to spend $$$ for the best experience) - we are not divers and only interested in snorkelling - would prefer a smaller group so it's more personalised and hopefully not too many small kids

-i'm going with my dad so not interested in romantic tours etc - will be going in mid to late August

I do not think that they dare back off even when the science is comletely clear.  It was a fraud program top to bottom with actual scvience been hijacked out of any informed debate.  Those that knew better were at best shouted down and never given a podium.

Truth is, if they quit, they will hang and it is telling just how many wiser voices did step out of the way.

I do think that present noise is about reconditioning the market to suppress blowback over the Covid scam.  I wonder if they were expecting an accelerating death rate by now?

Recognised experts agree on that the Australian economy is in trouble "IndyWatch Feed National"

Contributed by Joe Montero

The latest survey by the Conversation should be of interest to everyone. It involved contributions from of leading forecasters in 25 Australian universities, thinktanks and financial institutions among them economic modellers, former Treasury, International Monetary Fund and Reserve Bank officials, and a former member of the Reserve Bank board.

It is the unified view of the state of the Australian economy hat is the most noteworthy part. In short, the probability of a recession high.

The focus of the universities, think tanks, financial institutions, and the rest is on inflation and interest rates. No surprise here. Everyone knows they are a problem. We are all feel the impact on our lives.

But the forecast of a probable recession is about much more. It means a recognition that the economy is not growing and may even be shrinking. Predictions are that even if there is a small growth, it will be less than the increase in population.

Consideration should be given to the reality that official statistics are not accurate and tend to underestimate what is really going on. The reasons are that the methods used tend to be those that paint the best picture for the government.

Take inflation. A price index is used. It contains a basket of essential items for a household and their prices. What is included and whatever weight is given to each of these items matters. The cost of housing is underestimated, and high tech items like computers, mobile phones are excluded. These are just two examples that indicate the Index underestimates the real rate of inflation.

Economic growth is generally measured either by means of the money value of sales. This is called gross Domestic Product (GPD). But there is a problem with this. Financial transactions are considered parts of growth, when all they are is changing ownership of what already exists. There are also certain costs, like those resulting from environmental and social damage that arent included.

If these factors are brought into the calculation, the GDP measurement would show less economic growth.

This gives us a clue as to what is really going on. Finance in proportion to the rest of the economy has become far too big, and the largest part of this takes the form of debt. In turn, this debt takes two forms. Debt used to finance business and household debt.

When the first...

FixedIt: Rape is not a date "IndyWatch Feed National"

The Cairns Post is back after erasing an alleged violent rape and replacing it with date goes horribly wrong.

The date went wrong? Really? Thats how they choose to describe 21 charges of rape, sexual assault, physical assault, robbery, and enter with intent?

A date goes wrong when youre wearing white jeans and you sit in a puddle of spilled coffee. A date goes wrong when your date tips soup in your lap or sneers at Swifties or brings their parents with them.

Rape, assault and robbery charges are not a date, theyre crimes to be tried in court.

Erasing an alleged rape like this is not an accident or a mistake. Its a choice. That choice tells me a lot about the person who wrote it and they audience they think theyre writing for.

GMOs Revealed "IndyWatch Feed National"

Editor's Note: This article is a reprint. It was originally published March 17, 2018.

While genetically modified organisms (GMOS), and the pesticides that go along with them, are touted as the solution to feed the world, the reality is a far cry from this industry-spread ideal. In reality, 86% of the value of U.S. agricultural exports in 2015 went to 20 destinations with low numbers of hungry people and high rates of human development scores.1 The top recipient? Canada.

In 2013 as well, U.S. farms contributed only 2.3% of the food supply to the countries with the most starving people.2 Such countries, unbeknownst to many Americans, actually produce most of their own food already. What they need is not for the U.S. to step up its production of genetically engineered (GE) corn and soy, but to be given resources to distribute and increase access to food while helping local farmers to earn a good living.

If we took GMOs off the market today, we would still be feeding the world with the same inefficacy that we are today. We have starvation. We have the biggest famine in human history happening over in sub-Saharan Africa right now. However, the problem with GMOs is one much larger than failed promises or misguided expectations.

Instead, it's a form of technology that threatens human health, the environment and the very food supply we depend on. At the foundation, "GMOs Revealed" seeks to answer a question that's relevant to all of us:

"What if the desire to use technology to enhance our world and save lives has evolved into a lust that, when paired with corporate greed and politics, becomes a catastrophic mass experiment that harms you and your family? Genetically modified foods, also known as GMOs, represent one of the most controversial issues in the world today. What is more vital to humanity, to each of us, than our food supply?"

The Not-so-Green Revolution

As Zach Bush explains, many of the problems with industrialized agriculture began with the Green Revolution, which is not at all "green" as its name suggests. It's easy to forget that at one point, not so long ago, all food was organically grown in a way that supported the ecosystem and environment as a whole. This all changed in the 1940s when the Green Revolution took hold and industrial, chemical-dependent farming techniques quickly spread to become the norm.

When WWII ended, there was a glut of petroleum, and in pet...

The EU risks repeating another vaccine apartheid with new deals with vaccine companies "IndyWatch Feed National"

July 4, 2023: Reuters reports that the European Commission has contracted several European vaccine production companies, such as Pfizer, to reserve capacity to make the EU up to 325 million vaccines a year in case of another future global health emergency. The contracts also obligate the companies to be adequately responsive to crises, including by stockpiling supplies where necessary.

The announcement of these contracts has been met with backlash from members of the Peoples Vaccine Alliance advocating for equitable access to medicines who claim they threaten to repeat the vaccine inequity experienced during Covid-19. As of June 2023, only 35% of people in low countries have received a Covid vaccination compared to 73% in high income countries. The World Health Organisation (WHO) dubbed this inequity a vaccine apartheid which led to large-scale, preventable deaths in the global South.

The EUs announcement of its vaccine contracts comes alongside discussions of a Global Pandemic Agreement by the WHO. The agreement aims to avoid a repeat of the "catastrophic failure" of the Covid pandemic and includes a commitment to reserve up to 20% of any tests, vaccines or treatments for low-income countries in a future global health emergency. However, there are concerns that inward-looking measures to protect supply lines, such as the EUs, threaten the Global Pandemic Agreement and undermine initiatives to ensure equitable access to medicine.

All Hail King Charles Now That Alan Partridge Has Made Him Almost Bearable "IndyWatch Feed National"

Couldnt sit through the 14-hour live coronation ceremony of King Charles III last month, because, you know, watching paint dry had more appeal? Well, theres good news. Weve had to wait more than a month, but you can now experience the real reason the British Empire collapsed (amid the unbearable weight of its own pomp and ceremony) without vomiting back up some of your lunch, courtesy of an 18-minute segment of the coronation featuring the commentary of Alan Partridge, Englands consummate media personality and premiere Royal Watcher.

If youre not sure who Partridge is, he makes even the most British of moments tolerable. The creation of British comedian and satirist Steve Coogan (along with writer Armando Iannucci, the brains behind, among other things, In The Spin), Partridge is described on his Wikipedia page thusly: A parody of British television personalities, Partridge is a tactless and inept broadcaster with an inflated sense of celebrity.

Without wishing to spoil any of the punchlines, this is a random line from Partridges commentary of Charlies coronation: Today a chance to look back and to cherish the many happy memories we have of the former Prince Charles. Of course, the investiture of a rather awkward 21-year-old with big ears and a plum in his mouth. But he was to blossom from what many would openly admit was an ugly duckling. He has grown into, perhaps not a swan, but certainly a very fine goose.

Definitely in the upper echelons of Best Things On The Internet. If you want mroe Alan Partridge, then Baby Cow Productions is his home on Youtube.

1.5C Breached for First Time During Northern Hemisphere Summer "IndyWatch Feed National"

The Paris Agreement goal of keeping global surface air temperatures below 1.5 degrees Celsius above the pre-industrial average is starting to fade into the background, climate experts say, as Reuters reported.

According to the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S), in the beginning of June, average temperatures worldwide climbed above 1.5 degrees Celsius for several days.

The world has just experienced its warmest early June on record, following a month of May that was less than 0.1C cooler than the warmest May on record. Monitoring our climate is more important than ever to determine how often and for how long global temperatures are exceeding the 1.5 degrees threshold. Every single fraction of a degree matters to avoid even more severe consequences of the climate crisis, said Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) Deputy Director Samantha Burgess, according to C3S.

Global average temperatures had gone above 1.5 degrees Celsius before, but not in the northern hemisphere summer, which began on June 1, reported Reuters.

Weve run out of time because change takes time, said Sarah Perkins-Kirkpatrick, a climatologist at Australias University of New South Wales, as Reuters reported.

Heat waves have been bringing dangerous temperatures to the United States and Mexico, as the Canadian wildfires continue to produce hazardous smoke and diminish air quality in Canada and the U.S.

As a climate scientist I feel like I am watching a global train wreck in slow motion, said Andrew Weaver of the University of Victoria, as reported by the PBS Newshour. The expectation is that 2024 will be even warmer than 2023 as this El Nio continues to develop. We know as well the warmer the global climate is, the more likely we are to have extreme event.........

Market Talk July 3, 2023 "IndyWatch Feed National"

ASIA:

A private sector survey in China revealed that factory activity growth slowed in June due to concerns about sluggish market conditions. The Caixin/S&P Global manufacturing purchasing managers index (PMI) dropped from 50.9 in May to 50.5 in June, indicating a marginal expansion. The index mark of 50 separates growth from contraction. The survey focuses on around 650 private and state-owned manufacturers, with a particular emphasis on export-oriented firms in coastal regions. This data, along with a separate official survey showing a decline in factory activity, suggests that Chinas economy lost momentum in the second quarter as demand weakened. The survey also indicated a softening in manufacturing output and new orders during June.

Newly Released JFK Documents Raise an Important Question: Whats Left? "IndyWatch Feed National"

Its a good thing that the US government keeps releasing documents related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Last week, for example, another batch of 1,103 records was made public, which brings the total of documents unveiled by the Biden administration to more than 16,000.

But what about the rest?

The White House noted that 99 percent of JFK records have now been released. However, when taking into account that the total number of documents made public is more than 70,000, that means that hundreds of records are still locked away somewhere almost 60 years after that tragic day in Dallas.

Why?

To get an answer, we must first turn to Dr. Colleen Shogan, the current Archivist of the United States, who said the rules for disclosure are simple.

At the National Archives, we believe in the importance of government transparency and the accessibility of information, she said, adding that the goal of the National Archives is to ensure that the maximum amount of information is made available to the American people, while we protect what we must.

Thats not very specific.

A memorandum from President Joe Biden sheds a bit more light on why some documents have not yet been released.

[President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992] permits the continued postponement of public disclosure of information in records concerning President Kennedys assassination only when postponement remains necessary to protect against an identifiable harm to the military defense, intelligence operations, law enforcement, or the conduct of foreign relations that is of such gravity that it outweighs the public interest in disclosure, the June 30 memorandum states.

That is a bit more useful.

However, to get a more detailed answer as to which documents are still being withheld and why, one has to dig a little bit deeper. Specifically, this information c...

A Schwab prophecy come true? Atlanta Airport employs digital facial recognition IDs "IndyWatch Feed National"

World Economic Forum founder and executive director Klaus Schwab heaped praise on the Chinese Communist Party this week for adopting "new COVID control measures" while boosting "social dynamism" at the WEF's Annual Meeting of the New Champions. We will break down in this article what Schwab means by "social dynamism." This is important, why? Because Schwab, a globalist, a futurist and a transhumanist, holds immense sway over many of our Western politicians in Canada, the U.S., Australia, etc., at both the state and federal levels. Heads of state and governors of all political stripes, from Democrat Gov. Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan to Republican Gov. Brian Kemp of Georgia, flock to his meetings in Davos each year. Kemp told the corporate media he was going to Davos in January 2023 to "sell Georgia." He no sooner returned and we found out that Georgia became one of the first handful of states to launch a new drivers' license with biometric digital identities using facial recognition...

Having never been there before, I just wanted to check this itinerary looks okay? I know it's missing a few key stops (such as Mossman Gorge) but we're hoping to check this place out another day/trip.

Cairns --- Port Douglas --- Daintree River Cruise (near the ferry) --- Catch ferry across --- Mt Alexandra Lookout --- Daintree Discovery Centre --- Daintree Ice Cream --- Dubuji Boardwalk/Cape Tribulation --- Back to Cairns

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Additionally if anyone can offer must-see places to check out on a self-drive through the Tablelands that would also be much appreciated.

Former UPenn prof faked more than 50 figures, says government watchdog "IndyWatch Feed Niugini"

William Armstead

A pharmacy researcher who left the University of Pennsylvania sometime last year has been found guilty of research misconduct in multiple federal grant applications and five published papers, four of which have already been retracted.

As we have reported, William Armstead, who is retired from Penn, was working among other things on the effects of brain injury on piglets experiments in which the animals were slaughtered. He has had seven papers retracted, and The Philadelphia Inquirer reported in September that he had left the university. Penn did not respond to several requests for comment when we attempted to reach officials there about Armsteads work.

According to the U.S. Office of Research Integrity, much of that work appears to have been suspect:

ORI found that Respondent engaged in research misconduct by knowingly and intentionally falsifying and/or fabricating fifty-one (51) figures and the methods, data, results, and conclusions reporting on the effects of various vasoactive agents on the neurologic response to traumatic brain injury in piglets of different ages and genders in the following five (5) published papers, one (1) unpublished manuscript, one (1) review article, three (3) posters, three (3) grant applications submitted for PHS funds, and four (4) NIH grant progress reports

Armstead, who has been part of NIH grants totaling $7.7 million during his career according to NIH records, has agreed to a seven-year ban on U.S. federal funding, as well as from serving as an advisor or consultant to the Public Health Service, which includes NIH peer review committees.

The notice states he also agreed to retraction of a fifth paper, Translational approach towards determining the role of cerebral autoregulation in outcome after traumatic brain injury, which appeared...

Hamlet: Masterpiece or Melodramatic Muddle? "IndyWatch Feed National"

The icy wind was working up to a squall when King Hamlet (Sr.), contentedly stretching after enjoying a sumptuous luncheon repast, sauntered outside to his garden his favorite spot to lie down for a siesta.  Of course, such outdoor naps, even when bundled-up, were not always advisable on his remote, rocky Danish jutland of Elsinore Castle.  But he was a fresh-air fiend, and no foe to the rigors of damp, rheumatic conditions.  After all, he lived in a badly-heated castle not much firewood available on that rocky promontory!

What happened next is uncertain.  Two hours later, he was found dead.  His chamberlain Polonius estimated that the king had been dead for 45 minutes, give-or-take 10 minutes or so.  Moreover, as the kings most trusted advisor, he determined the cause of death as the lethal venom of a serpents bite.  Cursory examination of the body showed no fang-marks indicative of such a bite, but Polonius was confident in his conclusion.  After all, despite the inauspicious climate and absence of topsoil, various breeds of poisonous serpent were surprisingly present in the immediate environs of the castle.  Polonius also noticed some residue of liquid dripping from the kings ear, which he quickly concluded was the snakes venom.  Why the snake would have secreted its poisonous fluid directly in the kings ear was a matter of little conjecture.

Now the queen had been restless for quite some time, and was not unreceptive to the flirtations emanating from her dear husband Hamlets hirsute brother, Claudius.  Claudius, sympathetic to her distress, resolved her perturbations with a vial of poisonous distillations.  In the absence of a forensic investigation, the old kings corpse was expeditiously interred.  His brother, the jocular if shifty Claudius, quickly succeeded to the throne, and moreover, without undue delay, married the widow (expeditiously recovered from her grief).

Now the old kings only son, Hamlet, found such connubial swiftness unseemly to the memory of his much esteemed, now-dead father, and he brooded over Gertrudes hasty remarriage.  Despite his knowledge of the classics (for instance, the Roman Emperor Claudiuss fatal mushroom supper), the possibility of foul play never seemed to occur to him.  Evidently poisonous serpents were a deadly danger on the cold, rocky jutland of Elsinore.  But, in a remarkable, possibly unprecedented occurrence, the shade of his dead father did indeed return from that undiscovered country (from which, customarily, no one ever does), disclosing to Hamlet that his death was actually murder by his treacherous brother Claudius.

Furiously resolved and resolute in his unswerving intent to enact revenge on the murderer, Hamlet then proceeds to play practical jokes, display manic if pointless antics, talk to a disinterred skull, recklessly kill the innocent Polonius (and later his son Laertes), drive the lovesick Ophelia to suicide, and accompli...

The Ignorant Imperative: Hannah Gadsby on Pablo Picasso "IndyWatch Feed National"

The humourless comedian Hannah Gadsby has much to thank one of the twentieth centurys titans of art.  By placing him in the stockade of feminist disapproval, the Australian was picking the easiest target and avoiding the most profound questions of his oeuvre.  To be so personal, and play the man with such indignation, is the first refuge of the talentless.

While Gadsbys Netflix run known as Nanette happily dabbled with Picasso as the problem figure for women, a mere phallic kaleidoscope filter who was rotten in the face cavity, another frontier needed to be conquered.  Art graduate credentials stirred.  Dangerously, Gadsby felt that it was worthwhile to actually move into a field her target was infinitely far more gifted at than her, though not a fact she would ever dare admit.  (Patriarchy tends to operate as a one-word pejorative, much like communism to the red baiter or cosmopolitanism to the Stalinist.)  Enter the Brooklyn Museum art exhibition Its Pablo-matic: Picasso According to Hannah Gadsby, curated by Gadsby with the assistance of Catherine Morris and Lisa Small.

This chaotic, streaky effort keeps company with something like a dozen exhibitions and events intended to mark the 50th anniversary of Picassos death in 1973.  Artists in the exhibition have been selected to provide feminist ripostes to the misogynist ogre, with some the pieces coming after the artists death.  The work of Betty Tompkins, Joan Semmel, Kaleta Doolin, Kathe Kllwitz and Maria Martins find room, but they do so within the gravitational pull of Picassos own stifling gravitas, which seems to exert a dwarfing effect.

Discordantly for Gadsby, the choice artists are not exactly in accord with her art-artist divide, one which holds that decent art comes from decent souls.  Semmel is happy to admit loving Picassos work, marvelling at the ground it has broken, opening new doors into seeing.  Kiki Smith holds much the same view. As a printmaker I know very few who can get anywhere near the depth of his understanding and his playfulness.

The textual and audio contributions from Gadsby are cringingly childish. Beside Reclining Nude (1932), itself a Picasso feature, she finds the image uncomfortable because the breasts can look like a sideways owl and two doughnuts at the same time.  And forget anything valuable about the sketch selections from the Vollard Suite.  Im not going to sell these works by contextualising them in terms of PPs technical prowess because I just dont care.

America After a MAGA Win in 2024: What a Fourth Reich Here Might Look Like "IndyWatch Feed National"

NBC News reported this week that Donald Trump is not only still leading the GOP field, but that his margin is growing:

Former President Donald Trump has expanded his lead over Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and the rest of the Republican presidential field since Trumps latest indictment on federal criminal charges, according to a new national NBC News poll.

Another national survey, reported by NBC on Monday, shows a toss-up in a Trump-Biden matchup; Joe Bidens small lead is within the margin of error.

All of which raises the question: What would America be like if Trump or a similarly fascist Republican were to take the White House in 2024? What would the dire warnings about American fascism, were they realized, mean in real life?

My wife Louise and I have been in Spain all this week while Jefferson Smith fills in for me on my radio/TV show, and weve learned more than a little that might answer those questions.

Most Americans, when they think of fascism, think of goose-stepping Nazi soldiers and death camps, and believe that that whole system of government was totally crushed by the Allies in 1945 at the end of World War II. But Spain was fascist right up until dictator Francisco Francos death in 1975 at the age of 82.

There are still many people here in Spain who regard the Franco time fondly; if you were on his side, supported his Falange party later called simply The Movement or were assiduously nonpolitical, life could be relatively normal.

Just this morning a Spaniard we spent a few hours with told us how most people simply avoided politics back during Francos time and are still, to this day, reluctant to discuss the horrors of his regime. There is talk of reparations for his victims, she said, but it is very contentious. Mostly, people avoid discussing thos...

How the Billionaires Control U.S.-and-Allied Governments "IndyWatch Feed National"

In virtually every country thats allied with the U.S. Government against Russia and against China, there is a low public job-approval-rating for its head-of-state and for its Government, and a rating that is far lower than is the public job-approval for the leaders of the countries that the U.S. gang are trying to regime-change. If a given nations leaders net public job-approval rating (% who approve, minus the % who disapprove) is above 0%, or positive, then that is an indication the nations Government is a democracy, because then that leader is satisfying his public (including his political opposition not merely his own voters) more than dissatisfying it that leader actually DOES represent his nation. However, if the net job-approval rating is below 0%, or negative, its likelier a dictatorship than a democracy (and then the question is: whom does that leader actually serve?).

Every week the Morning Consult polling organization scientifically samples public opinion in 22 countries regarding Approve/Disapprove on the given nations leader, including all of the U.S. Governments allies plus five nations that are on friendly terms with the U.S. Government but not lockstep followers of it: the latter 5 being India, Switzerland, Mexico, Australia, and Brazil. All of the other 17 Governments (which includes Americas own Government) are rabidly hostile toward both of the U.S.-designated top enemy nations, which are China and Russia. So: the Morning Consult pollings include the 17 U.S.-and-allied countries, plus 5 nations that are in some way on the fence between the U.S. Government and its designated top enemies i.e., Americas targets to be conquered.

Here is the complete rank-order list of the 22 sampled countries along with the net job-performance rating of its leader by its public as per the 29 June 2023 posting:

The Armed Revolt: Why Israel Cannot Crush the Resistance in Palestine "IndyWatch Feed National"

Numbers can be dehumanizing. However, when placed in their proper context, they help to illuminate wider issues and answer urgent questions, such as why occupied Palestine is at the threshold of a major revolt. And why Israel cannot crush Palestinian resistance no matter how hard or violently it tries.

Thats when numbers become relevant. Since the start of this year, nearly 200 Palestinians have been killed in the Occupied West Bank and Gaza. Among them are 27 children.

If one is to imagine a heat map correlating the towns, villages and refugee camps of the Palestinian victims to the ongoing armed rebellion, one will immediately spot direct connections. Gaza, Jenin and Nablus, for example, paid the heaviest price for Israeli violence, making them the regions that resist most.

Fundraiser

Unsurprisingly, Palestinian refugees have historically been at the forefront of the Palestinian liberation movement, turning refugee camps such as Jenin, Balata, Aqabat Jabr, Jabaliya, Nuseirat and others into hot spots of popular and armed resistance. The harder Israel attempts to crush Palestinian resistance, the greater the Palestinian reaction is.

Take Jenin as an example. The rebellious refugee camp has never ceased its resistance to the Israeli occupation since the famous battle and subsequent Israeli massacre of April 2002. The resistance continued there in all of its forms, despite the fact that many of the fighters who defended the camp against the Israeli invasion of the Second Palestinian Uprising, or Intifada, were killed or imprisoned.

Now that a new generation has taken over, Israel is at it again. Military incursions of Jenin by Israel have become a routine, resulting in a mounting number of casualties, though at a price for Israel itself.

The most notable and violent of these incursions was on January 26, when the Israeli army invaded the camp, killed ten Pa...

Litecoin $100 Milestone Indicates Promising Bullish Trends Heres Why "IndyWatch Feed National"

Litecoin (LTC) has been on a remarkable run in the past three days, emerging as one of the most impressive performers among cryptocurrencies this week. But whats causing this sudden surge in its price?

The answer lies in the anticipation of a major event thats just around the corner: the impending halving of Litecoin, set to take place on August 2. Similar to Bitcoin, Litecoin undergoes halvings after a specific number of blocks are mined, roughly every four years.

As the halving approaches, investors and enthusiasts are left wondering: will Litecoins price continue to soar, or is there more to this story than meets the eye?

Litecoin Price Rally And Resistance Breakthrough

LTC has demonstrated a strong performance in recent days, currently trading at $112.35 according to CoinGecko. Over the past 24 hours, LTC experienced a notable rally of 5.1%, and within a seven-day timeframe, it surged by an astonishing 29.0%.

Over the weekend, LTC managed to surpass the crucial $100 mark, and since then, it has sustained trading above this key level of resistance. This resilience indicates bullish tendencies and raises the possibility of a significant breakthrough, with the potential for the $100 resistance to transform into support.

Such a development could pave the way for a sustained bull run, potentially propelling the token to reach $130 in the near future.

Social Activity Volume And Halving Event Hype

The surge in LTCs price has coincided with heightened social activity volume, as observed by the blockchain analytics firm Santiment.

This suggests a correlation between price spikes and increased interest and engagement surrounding the crypto.

The anticipation of Litecoins upcoming halving event has generated a surge in demand for the asset, driving its price upward.

Vanuatu West Papua MSG: An epic saga of messianic hope, betrayal, tragedy and resurrection

SPECIAL REPORT: By Yamin Kogoya

The name Vanuatu has taken on a sacred significance in Papuan liberation consciousness.

The Free Papua Movement (OPM) elders ignited this consciousness after the declaration of West Papuas independence on 1 July 1971.

The declaration was an act of revolution to reclaim Papuan sovereignty, stolen by Indonesia.

General Seth Rumkorem and Jacob Prai declared it, defended it, and received official recognition. Dakar, Senegal, was among them, the first international diplomatic office opened by OPM shortly after the declaration.

As Papuans resisted the invasion, they sought refuge in the Netherlands, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, Sweden, Australia, and Greece. All joined, at least in spirit, under the name OPM.

Its spirit of revolution that bonded West Papua and Vanuatu with those across Europe, Oceania, and Africa. This was a time of decolonisation, revolution, and a Cold War.

The decolonisation movement back then was more conscious in heart and mind of humanity than now.

Rex Rumakieks sacred connection
Rex Rumakiek (now aged 78), a long time OPM fighter alongside others, established this sacred connection in 1978.

In Papua New Guinea, Rumakiek met with students from Vanuatu studying at the University of Papua New Guinea and shared the OPMs revolutionary victory, tragedy, and solution.

These students later took prominent roles in the formation of the independent state of Vanuatu became part of the solution laid a foundation of hope.

A common spirit emerged between the OPMs resistance to Indonesian colonisation and Vanuatus struggle for freedom from long-term European (French and English) confederation rule.

A brutal system of dual rule known as Condominium critics called it Pandemonium (chaos and disorder).

West Papua, a land known as little heaven is indeed like a Garden of Eden in Miltons epic Paradise Lost poem.

To restore freedom and justice to that betrayed, lost paradise was the foundati...

A part of its community out-reach initiative, Trukai Industries two-week Smart Farmer program (SFP), aims to transform local rice farmers into small holder farmers, and finally into semi-commercial and commercial farmers.

Launched in October last year, the program kicked off with a partnership between Trukai and the PNG University of Technology (Unitech) in Lae. Unitech, a long-standing partner with Trukai on numerous projects, has provided eight hectares of land at the University Farm for rice development projects and training on rice farming systems.

Unitechs Acting Vice Chancellor, Dr Garry Sali, expects the SFP program to help realise their goal of developing world-class technocrats for the real world.

In addition to expanding PNGs rice industry, he notes the SFP program is also a win-win for the university, through the promotion of academic and professional collaborative of rice research and training.

Having signed a joint venture agreement in May, Pacific Adventist University in Port Moresby is the second university to join the program. Fifteen hectares of university land are expected to be in rice by October.

In a rousing reception by singsing groups and the people led by Simbu Governor Noah Kool, they welcomed Minister Leonard who officiated at the event.

Speaking from the provincial capital of Simbu in Kundiawa, Minister Leonard who is the Member for Samarai Murua District said that God blessed Chimbu province with many educated and knowledgeable people and it was incumbent upon these elites to now utilize the human resource to help preserve, protect and promote their culture and environment.

He said people had to unite and work together to ensure there was a common goal to see success in their respective engagements and spaces of cultural preservation and promotion.

Minister Leonard said Simbu held the highest mountain peak in the country that is Mt Wilhelm.

It is an iconic tourism product and Mt Wilhelm is here to last for eternity and will remain even after all the copper and gold is finished. It will remain permanently even after we are gone. If it is packaged and monetised, Mt Wilhelm will be the biggest resource to the people of Simbu, Minister Leonard said.

He asked in his speech, why Simbu and the recognition given to a cultural show, stressing that Simbu had a rich culture and tradition that needed to be preserved, promoted and showcased.

We are still the PNG Champions "IndyWatch Feed Niugini"

Lae City FC is not ready to walk away handing over the Championship on a golden platter aback the momentum we have established as the champion club of Papua New Guinea.

We are still the Lae City, Morobe and Papua New Guinea Champion Soccer club until the fight is brought to us once more in the field of play.

For that we are always and forever proud of and owe it to the people of Lae and Morobe province.

In saying so and today goes down as a momentous milestone for the reigning PNG National Soccer League champion, Lae City FC.

The 8 times and current NSL champion carry on a legacy raised over a period of 10 years.

Season 2023 is significant under the inaugural franchise ownership of the municipal authority of the second city of PNG, the Lae City Authority (LCA).

Lae City Authority through Chairman and Deputy Prime Minister of PNG and member for Lae John Rosso, takes over the reign from the Lae Biscuit Company.

Lae City Authority has been part and partial of the Lae City FC over the two terms of DPM Rosso and carrys forth a legacy established as the flagship soccer team of Lae and the Morobe Province.

Lae City FC opens its inaugural NPL season with all due respect to the Lae Biscuit Company and Chairman Ian Chow, but with heavy hearts. Soccer in Papua New Guinea will never have reached one of its highest points in time if it wasnt for the love of sports by the Chow family in this country.

And Lae City FC is a standout flagship team of the Morobe province through the Chow family representing not only Lae City but Morobe province as a whole to date.

It is only rightful that the Lae City Authority retains and advances the legacy of Lae City FC as a dominant player in PNGs soccer arena reaching out to the Oceania region as well.

Members of Lae City FC through the years represent pockets of Lae City to the greater Morobe province and PNG as a whole. The football in the team has been an inspiration for PNG as well role models in the various settings of society to the district and provinces respectively.

"IndyWatch Feed World" "IndyWatch Feed National"

The property development and construction industry is having a lend of Australia: By promoting massive migration numbers, it keeps housing and land costs high and it keeps its own costs low. It leans on government for subsidies and it builds virtually uninsurable high-rises, , and houses which are compulsorily insured by its own special insurers, who almost never find themselves liable.[1]  And when the industry's excesses cause its practitioners to go broke, their customers are rendered homeless and bankrupt. There was never a better case for the state to take over an industry, but we find the reverse has happened.

A Master Builders Association press release issued today (3 July 23) makes some typical assertions:

Mays sharp increase in unit/apartment building approvals is welcome given the severity of shortages in the rental market," Master Builders Australia chief economist Shane Garrett commented today in a press release. He claimed this to be due to  prolonged underbuilding in the medium/high-density part of the market." But it is not the result of 'underbuilding,' as the industry well knows, it is the result of driving up demand through massive migration intakes.

The Tower of Babel. (Painting by  Pieter Bruegel the Elder.)
The Tower of Babel, is a biblical cautionary tale about a group of
men who wanted to make a name for themselves by building a city.
God felt they were becoming too powerful, so he sent difficulties
their way.

Going by their reproductive rate - a reflection of increasing economic and environmental pressures - if Australians had self-determination, their population would be a lot smaller.

The industry and the Master Builders have been selfishly and irresponsibly calling for - and getting - continuously increasing migration - for decades now. See, for instance, their submission to the Department of Home Affairs review of the Australian migration system: .

They persistently and guilefully ignore their success in creating overdemand and its accompanying inflationary housing-bubble.

We will need to see a sustained recovery in higher density home building volumes before the affordability crisis in our rental market starts to abate."

Aspartame Deemed Carcinogenic "IndyWatch Feed National"

The World Health Organization is set to label aspartame as possibly carcinogenic. If the FDA or USDA actually considers labeling something as possibly carcinogenic, you know its bad. They let us eat and drink actual poison to improve their bottom line. Aspartame is an artificial sugar that is allegedly 200 times sweeter than the natural product. The FDA, European Food Safety Authority, Health Canada, Food Standards Australia and New Zealand, and UK Food Standards Agency and Cancer Research ALL approved the use of aspartame in independent studies. It was marketed as a sugar-free weight loss supplement, but that also proved to be false.

Replacing free sugars with NSS [non-sugar sweetener] does not help with weight control in the long term. People need to consider other ways to reduce free sugars intake, such as consuming food with naturally occurring sugars, like fruit, or unsweetened food and beverages, says Francesco Branca, WHO Director for Nutrition and Food Safety. NSS are not essential dietary factors and have no nutritional value. People should reduce the sweetness of the diet altogether, starting early in life, to improve their health.

Aspartame is in everything from diet sodas, gum, energy drinks, candies, and even sold in pure form under the brands Sugar Twin and Equal. The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) found that the gastrointestinal tract hydrolyzed and absorbed aspartame, releasing aspartic acid, methanol, and phenylalanine. The liver oxidizes the methanol to formaldehyde than again to formic acid. Both methanol and formaldehyde are toxic to liver cel...

Make the Catholic Church pay land-tax, not the poor - Response to new land-tax bill Victoria, Australia "IndyWatch Feed National"

The Catholic Church owns many billions of dollars of land in Australia but does not pay any land-tax. Today, in Victoria, Australia, if you own a second property worth more than 300,000, you pay land-tax. Soon, however, property worth 50,000 and upwards will be taxed, if a new bill goes ahead. This makes no moral sense in an era of skyrocketing land-prices, where you would logically expect land-tax thresholds to rise, not to fall. This letter to Tim Pallas MP suggests that, rather than punish Australians with very modest land-holdings, Australia should simply tax the Catholic Churchs vast holdings.

The following letter was sent to Tim Pallas Victorian Labor MP.

Dear Mr. Pallas

Re: Land Tax Act 2005, recent amendments and consequences

We write to express our concern and disappointment with your announcement in the recent state budget to reduce the exemption for paying Land Tax from $300,000 to $50,000.

The purpose of this amendment is inexplicable, perhaps other than to perversely begin levying Land Tax in a draconian way on the least wealthy land owners. Setting a $50,000 exemption is unnecessarily cruel and draconian on those who may have acquired a small holding many years ago, and who, for a range of reasons may not be able, or inclined, to dispose of the land.

Indeed, an increase in the exemption threshold was long overdue and was expected to be increased due to the long delay since the last adjustment. Logically, as land values always rise, so should the threshold for exemption, and we suggest the exemption should have been increased to at least $1 million to maintain the existing relativities.

Land-tax changes would affect pension eligibility

Pensioners for example, now forced to sell their land to pay for the increasingly prohibitive Land Tax rates, may find themselves ineligible for the pension, or reduced to only a part pension as they would then have too much cash to be eligible for a pension.

It is cruel and unfair to expect elderly pensioners, who may have owned the block next door for decades to have to engage in a market sale of their land, and the personal consequences to them, such as living arrangements, family issues, eligibility for health care etc. - arising from what is effectively for many a forced sale. In short, given the relatively few people affected it is a very limited source of revenue for the state. It seems instead....

Armageddon and the Limits of Evolution "IndyWatch Feed National"

On March 28, 2022, the Biden administration sent to Congress a "https://www.armscontrol.org/act/2022-04/news/biden-policy-allows-first-use-nuclear-weapons"> removed the longstanding doctrine of no first use of nuclear weapons, and opened the door to a nuclear response to a non-nuclear threat. Within months of the new U.S. policy, but without referring to it, the Putin administration responded that it might consider first use in case of an existential threat to Russia, including a non-nuclear one.  More recently, Sergei Karaganov, head of the Council on Foreign and Defense Policy, a non-governmental Russian think tank, argued that perhaps Russia should use a low yield tactical nuclear weapon in order to convince NATO to back off and stop threatening Russias security.

What drives human society to engage in such reckless behavior? The answer to this question is at once familiar to any student of human nature, human society and human history, and yet equally perplexing given the prospect of potential obliteration. This article is an exploration of such causes and their consequences, with possible implications that go far beyond human behavior alone, and may be grounded in universal principles.

We live in extraordinary times possibly more extraordinary than we realize. How many of those living even fifty years ago imagined that today we might be able to carry in the palm of our hand a device that can access most of human knowledge. Or quantum computers with almost infinite and instantaneous computing capacity, which are now being designed. We can now even peer at the birth of the universe.

We owe this to human intelligence, which is sometimes ridiculed, but is an extraordinary evolutionary development nonetheless. More specifically, we owe our superpowers to human technology, which is a product of human intelligence, and which further expands the production of human intelligence with new tools, even including the ability to augment human intelligence with artificial intelligence.

How did this come about? The answer is quite simple and well known, although only the most imaginative science fiction writers have even scratched the surface of its potential consequences. Intelligence is born of evolution.

Evolution, in turn, is born of competition, and more specifically the competition between life forms. In fact, if there is another form of competition, such as between astronomical or chemical or physical units, they might have to be defined as life forms by virtue of that competition. Even the most ancient and primitive life forms, such as viruses, compete against other life forms and against each other. This is the fundamental fact of e...
