Commonwealth Games shafted "IndyWatch Feed Capricornia"
After 15 months of hype, projected glory and excitement for athletes around the world, Premier Andrews flanked by Deputy Jacinta Allan and the Minister for Regional Development Harriet Shing announced that due to cost blow outs Victoria was pulling the plug on the Commonwealth Games.
They had got the sums wrong by over 300% and Andrews said that Victoria could no longer see any benefit in going on with it. Many sought to sheet the blame home to the Monarchy, somehow equating the death of Queen Elizabeth with a loss of any need for athletic endeavour in the anglophone world.
Country centres throughout Victoria were in shock as the first regional Games would have benefitted many regional cities like Ballarat, Shepparton and Geelong. Although a lot of infrastructure was still going ahead according to Ballarat Mayor Des Hudson OAM

Concerns over slow progress of Global Pandemic Agreement amid splintering of discussions "IndyWatch Feed National"
July 19, 2023: Global Pandemic Agreement discussions aimed at ensuring equitable access to medicines in the case of a future global health emergency have resumed this week at the World Health Organisation (WHO).
The agreement aims to avoid a repeat of the "catastrophic moral failure" of the Covid pandemic, when delaying tactics by a few high-income countries meant it took 20 months for members of the WTO to agree to a change to patent rules for COVID vaccines to allow for more equitable vaccine distribution. A watered-down agreement was only reached in June 2022, by which time research shows that over a million lives may have been lost through lack of access to vaccines.
An early draft of the Global Pandemic Agreement included a commitment to reserve up to 20% of any tests, vaccines or treatments for low-income countries in a future global health emergency but negotiations so far have been slow and fraught. Tensions between low-income countries, arguing for more equitable medicine access, and high-income countries seeking to protect the interests of their pharmaceutical companies have continued.
Efforts by the negotiators to create a more concise initial draft has been met with backlash over the perceived influence of high income countries in the weakening of initial commitments to health equity.
AFTINET, civil society groups and public health experts have called for the Global Pandemic Agreement to include:

The Albanese Government can end 10 years of engineered cruelty "IndyWatch Feed National"
The Human Rights Law Centre is calling on the Albanese Government to end 10 years of calculated, cruel policies inflicted on people who came to Australia seeking safety.
A decade ago today, former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd announced he would not allow any person seeking asylum by sea to settle in Australia. Thousands of people were subsequently sent to detention camps in Nauru and Papua New Guinea.
In Nauru and Papua New Guinea, the Australian Government oversaw torturous conditions of detention, the separation of families, grossly inadequate medical treatment, sexual abuse, and failures of care for children. The decision resulted in irreparable physical and mental harm and ultimately, the deaths of at least 14 people.
After powerful resistance from refugees, the last remaining people detained under Australia's offshore detention policy were evacuated from Nauru. However, the Albanese Government has confirmed that it will continue to keep the detention centre in Nauru open.
The Albanese Government refuse to evacuate 80 people,
who were previously detained on Manus Island from Papua New Guinea,
and continues to deny thousands of people their right to safe,
permanent resettlement.
The Human Rights Law Centre will join demonstrations across the
country to call on the Albanese Government to:
End offshore detention;
Evacuate the 80 people still in Papua New Guinea
Provide permanent safety to all people affected by offshore detention and the flawed Fast Track process.
Sanmati Verma, Managing Lawyer at the Human Rights Law Centre:
In offshore detention, the Australian government designed a system of calculated cruelty which is now being exported to other parts of the world, to torture and punish people seeking safety.
Every person sent to Nauru or PNG has lost years of their lives and been separated from loved ones because of the intentionally punitive policies of successive Australian governments. The Albanese Government must end offshore detention, evacuate the 80 people stranded in PNG, and give these people who have resisted the Australian Governments brutality, their right to make a safe and permanent home here.
Uncertain visa status has been weaponised to further punish people who have been transferred to Australia, to compel them to accept resettlement in third countries or return home. The Albanese government must recognise peoples right to rebuild their lives in safety and in freedom.

One Small Step for Rachel Vaughan, One Giant Leap for Mankind "IndyWatch Feed National"
<p>&
by Mary W Maxwell, LLB
On 16 July 2023, in London, activist Jeanette Archer convened a meeting of survivors of SRA, of which she is one. SRA means Satanic Ritual Abuse. A rough definition would be a rite in which a person suffers pain or death, in line with the groups belief that this is a religious ceremony intended to please Satan.</p> <p>More than 50 people attended the conference in person and many more by watching a livestream. There were speakers from UK, US, Germany, the Netherlands, Australia, and New Zealand. Those last two speakers gave their presentations from the Antipodes. <strong>Rachel Vaughan was the Australian speaker.</strong> Everyone says her speech was a knockout. You can watch it, above.<span id="more-37254"></span></p> <p>We have been covering the story of Rachel and her brother Andrew for the last five years, at Gumshoe. Mostly, our coverage did not emphasize the Satanic aspect. Rather, we moaned about her unfulfilled attempts to get the authorities police and parliamentarians to help children who are currently suffering.</p> <p>Because of her unique history of doing that, she would have given hope to the survivors at the London meeting. Rachel Vaughan has kept meticulous records. She has contracted over a hundred persons. She sleuths around the Adelaide neighborhoods where the crimes occur. In her speech, as you can see, she states the facts carefully and calmly.</p> <p><strong>Two New Items</strong></p> <p>Today I want to highlight two new items. One concerns the 1983 death of Richard Kelvin at age 15. An Adelaide man named Bevan von Einem was convicted of that murder and is still in jail 40 years later. In her London speech, Rachel said her father, Max McIntyre murdered Kelvin, and that it occurred after a sex film had been made involving herself, Richard Kelvin, and Louise Bell, age 8.</p> <p>Rachel says she witnessed those two murders. This is very important for the people of Adelaide South Australia. Here we have an eyewitness. Here we have a lady (she is around 47 now) who has literally dug up the dirt. Here we have a person who has been mercilessly harassed and smeared by trolls whenever she posts on the Internet and didnt break under all that pressure. Note: Ms Vaughan now has her own space on Rumble and on Bitchute, thank God.</p> <p>When I say it is i...</p>

Indias withdrawal from the Talisman Sabre war exercises welcomed "IndyWatch Feed National"
Contributed from Victoria
The Independent and Peaceful Australia Network (IPAN) coalition, which has been waging a long Campaign against United States led war exercises on Australian soil has released a statement welcoming the decision by India to pull out of the biggest United States led major war exercises on Australian soil.
Known as talisman Sabre, raises the risk of involvement in war, and is not in Australias interests. Indias withdrawal from the Talisman Sabre war exercises is a very welcome announcement, according to Ms Annette Brownlie, spokesperson for the coalition.
Photo from IPAN
United States and Australian government hopes for India joining the Quad and making it a military alliance have been dashed by Indias withdrawal from the Talisman Sabre war games, said Ms Brownlie.
Cancellation of this practice for a war against China would be in the best interest for peace in our region, she said.
The next Talisman Sabre exercises are set to commence in Queensland, Northern Territory, and other states on 22 July. It will involve 30,000 troops, primarily from the US and Australia with smaller number from other countries., and it will be largest-ever joint war exercises.
These exercises are designed to develop the coordination between forces under US command in preparation for war. Every indication is that the preparation is for a war against China.
IPAN believes it is highly significant that India has recognized the purpose of this war exercise and decided to pull out of it, said Ms Brownlie.
IPAN supports the call by the Pacific Peace Network for cancellation of this war exercise which does nothing to promote peace in our region. To the contrary, it heightens tensions and raised the risk of an error or mishap that could trigger a break-out of hostilities in our region.
Much of Australia agrees that this is dangerous, and Australia would be far better served by pursuing positive relationships with other nations, and esp...

Since the beginning of the War, Ukraine and Russia have agreed to let grain shipments travel through their shared body of water, The Back Sea. Yesterday President Putin failed to renew the deal, immediately halting all grain trade from Ukraine.
This aggressive political move will hurt the rest of the world. Still, most importantly, Ukrainian grain is sent to some of the most food-insecure countries, including Ethiopia, Yemen, Afghanistan, Sudan, Somalia, Kenya and Djibouti.
It is a cruel move from the Russians that may turn neutral parties into Ukrainian allies.

ABG/NEW DAWN NEWS
Current Situation:
A moderate eruption occurred at Bagana on July 7, 2023 which sent
large ash, gas and steam plume to high altitudes and caused
significant ashfall in communities. From the initial reports from
locals on the ground, the ashfall covered vegetation, destroyed
food gardens and contaminated rivers and streams used as the
primary water source.
Relief Update:
All relief efforts are being coordinated through Disaster
Management Teams. It is important that all people in the impacted
communities in both Wakunai and Torokina continue to move from
their villages to the district stations respectively. This is
critical for the District Disaster
Management Teams to have oversight and better coordination to move
efficiently, carefully and quickly if required. Food and water
supplies will also be distributed at the main camp areas at the
Torokina and Wakunai stations respectively.
Health update:
People in the affected communities are strongly urged to refrain
from using the contaminated water for drinking, cooking or washing.
If a water source is found to be free from ash in the affected
communities, it must be boiled first before it is used for cooking,
drinking etc.

Econ study retracted after researchers find undocumented alterations in the code "IndyWatch Feed Niugini"
An economics study has been retracted after other researchers identified several inconsistencies in the studys code and submitted a comment to the journal.
Those critics say the flaws drove the papers main findings, but an author of the study says they had no major effect and stands by the results.
The original paper, Dividend Taxes and the Allocation of Capital, was published in the American Economic Review in September 2022. It examined the impact of a 2013 increase in the tax rate on dividends in France, concluding an increased rate can encourage the accumulation of capital. The study has been cited four times, according to Clarivates Web of Science.
The retraction is only the second in the journals history. As Retraction Watch has previously reported, research shows that it is less common for economics papers to be retracted than research in other fields.
The retraction notice published this month states, in part:

Elon Musk has consistently proven to be a pivotal figure in cryptocurrencies, particularly Dogecoin (DOGE), his crypto of choice. His influence on DOGE has been nothing short of remarkable, with any mention or action from him causing significant fluctuations in its price.
In the digital currency landscape, where DOGE has struggled to keep pace with its counterparts despite the recent positive sentiment surrounding cryptocurrencies, any movement on the meme coin carries a heightened significance.
Enthusiasts eagerly await every word uttered by Musk, recognizing the potential impact his statements can have on the price and overall market sentiment.
Given this context, what did Elon Musk, the Tesla and SpaceX top honcho and Twitter owner, say this time, and how did it reverberate within the DOGE community?
Musk recently responded to a question on a popular social media platform. The question was about his preference between cats and dogs, and the enigmatic billionaire, promptly answered, Doges. This seemingly innocuous response had an immediate impact on the price of the meme coin.

Australias government is wrong to attack the Solomon Islands "IndyWatch Feed National"
Contributed by Jim Hayes
The attack on the Solomon Islands for singing a cooperation agreement with China is wrong. Worse, it is an uncalled for intervention in the internal affairs of another nations. Its the deliberate bullying by a local big power of a small neighbour.
Nations that value democracy will hold that a nation belongs to its people and that the course the nation takes is up to them, not for someone from outside wanting to impose their will.
Comments from leading Australian politicians indicate they have a somewhat different view of the world. In his case, it involves trying to block any deal our neighbours might make with China. The reason? The Australian government is locked into the geopolitical ambition of the United States to maintain its dominance in the region.
Australias history in this part of the world has often not been a good one and given to a propensity to play a kind of colonialist role, denying the right of local peoples to be masters of their own destiny. In other words, Australia stood against democracy. We need only consider the roles played in Papua new Guinea, Timor-Leste, and the current backing of the Indonesian occupation of West Papua.
When the Solomon Islands prime minister Manasseh Sogavare insists that Australia is meddling in his nations internal affairs, he makes an exceptionally good point.
Photo from the Australian: Prime Minister of the Solomon Islands Manasseh Sogavare
The current controversy concerns the deal with China, which seems to have been prompted by Australian moves to renege on its own prior agreement. We dont know the details of this because the matter has been going on behind closed doors. What we do know is that the Solomon Islands are unhappy with the way they see they have been treated. The bottom line is that the Australian government insists that the Solon Islands should be denied this right. This isnt said openly, of course....
New Drug Shows Promise In Slowing Alzheimers Progression, Says Dementia Australia "IndyWatch Feed National"
In a significant breakthrough, Dementia Australia has hailed the release of trial findings unveiling the efficacy of Donanemab, a promising new drug that slows the progression of early Alzheimers symptoms.
Developed by pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly, the drug functions by stimulating antibodies designed to target and eliminate amyloid plaques from the brain.
A decade ago, in 2011, the leading cause of death for non-Indigenous men and women in Australia was coronary heart disease. This remains the case for men in 2021, but dementia, including Alzheimers disease, claimed the number one ranking for women. (For Indigenous Australians, the leading cause of death remains coronary heart disease, followed by diabetes).
Maree McCabe, CEO of Dementia Australia, expressed her enthusiasm for this groundbreaking development, hailing it as a critical advancement in diversifying dementia treatment options.
These results instil much-needed hope for those experiencing symptoms, mild cognitive impairment, or early-stage Alzheimers, Ms McCabe said.
The research also underscores the vital significance of early diagnosis, ensuring timely access to treatment and support.
Increasing dementia awareness and understanding will help reduce discrimination and stigma, thus encouraging individuals with cognitive concerns to seek information and support at the earliest opportunity, she said.
Timely support and services have demonstrated superior health, care, and lifestyle outcomes for those affected.
Dementia Australia has urged cautious optimism as Donanemab awaits approval from the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) for its use in Australia.
Professor Blossom Stephan, Chair of Dementia Curtin University and Dementia Australia, lauded the trials results as encouraging, noting the study revealed that participants with mild cognitive impairment and mild dementia experienced a reduction of up to 35 per cent in cognitive decline through Donanemab treatment.
This research also highlights the need to ensure that healthcare services are equipped to deliver the intervention as well as make sure that access to treatment is equitable and available to everyone,...
Promising results of new Alzheimers drug published early diagnosis is key - Dementia Australia "IndyWatch Feed National"
Dementia Australia has welcomed the publication of the results of a trial showing that a new drug, donanemab, has been able to slow the progression of symptoms of early Alzheimers disease. Dementia Australia CEO Maree McCabe AM said this drug was an exciting new development and another step forward in expanding the number of treatments for dementia.
These results provide much needed hope for people who are developing symptoms, have mild cognitive impairment or who are in the early stages of Alzheimers disease, Ms McCabe said.
With dementia the second leading cause of death of Australians, and the leading cause of death of Australian women, we welcome any steps taken towards improving the lives of people living with dementia, their families and carers.
This research also highlights the importance of early diagnosis so people can access treatment and support as soon as possible.
We need to raise awareness and understanding of dementia to reduce discrimination and stigma so we can ensure people with concerns about their cognition are seeking information and support as early as possible.
We know the earlier people access support and services the better their health, care and lifestyle outcomes.
Donanemab will need to be approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) for use in Australia. It also comes with possible side effects that need to be carefully monitored by health professionals.
If this news raises any questions or concerns for anyone about their memory or changes in cognition, please do contact the National Dementia Helpline on 1800 100 500.
The drug, developed by pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly, works by inducing antibodies designed to attach to and remove amyloid plaques from the brain.
Chair of Dementia Curtin University and Dementia Australia Professor Blossom Stephan said the results of the trial were encouraging.
The trial found that for participants with mild cognitive impairment and mild dementia, donanemab slowed cognitive decline by up to 35 per cent which is very promising, Professor Stephan said.
This research also highlights the need to ensure that healthcare services are equipped to deliver the intervention as well as make sure that access to treatment is equitable and available to everyone.
Dementia Australia Dementia Advocate Bill Yeates, who was diagnosed with younger-onset-dementia in 2019, said the results were remarkable.
This demonstrates that it is possible to significantly slow down the rate of cognitive decline through the removal of amyloid beta (plaques) from the brain,....

Dolphins teaching each other to beg a concern "IndyWatch Feed Capricornia"
University of Queensland researchers have
discovered dolphins in the Moreton Bay Area, teaching fellow
dolphins to beg for food from recreational fishers.
This sophisticated behaviour was first noticed in
a study into the social structures of Indo-Pacific bottlenose
dolphins.
Since fishing is popular in the region, dolphins have now begun to take advantage of the feeds. But researchers warn this adaptive strategy may pose long term risks, and spread throughout wider dolphin populations.
Researchers also state better policing and awareness of illegal dolphin feeding is essential in avoiding harmful effects on these marine mammals.

ACT Bill to Raise the Age falls short for 12 and 13 year olds "IndyWatch Feed National"
Australias first jurisdiction set to pass legislation to raise the age of criminal responsibility from 10 to 14 will fall short of its obligations to protect the human rights of children.
A report from ACT parliaments Standing Committee on Justice and Community Safety, tabled on Friday, failed to recommend necessary changes to proposed legislation to raise the age. Advocates have been unequivocal in calling for the Barr Government to raise the age to at least 14 with no carve-outs.
The Committees report ignored advice from medical experts and Aboriginal, legal and human right advocates by failing to recommend the removal of carve outs for children aged 12 and 13, who will remain criminally responsible for some behaviour, from the Bill.
Medical evidence is abundantly clear that children under the age of 14 do not have the capacity for criminal responsibility. Instead the ACT government will continue to criminalise behaviours that are best understood as responses to trauma.
Despite hearing evidence on the significant harm and trauma children in prisons are subjected to, the Committee failed to make recommendations that could stop children aged 12 and 13 from being locked away in the coming years, opting to support the governments decision to delay raising the age of criminal responsibility to 14 until 2025.
Recommendations for stronger oversight of intensive therapy places under the Optional Protocol on the Convention Against Torture (OPCAT) are welcomed, as well as the inclusion of Elders on the therapeutic support panel for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities.
Quotes Attributed to Maggie Munn, National Director, Change the Record:
While we commend the ACT government for raising the age of criminal responsibility to 14 it is disappointing that this will be delayed until 2025 and will include carve outs for 12 and 13 year olds.
"The government seems set on incarcerating children who don't understand the gravity of their behaviour, and then wondering why that behaviour doesn't change. Children belong in schools and playgrounds and need to be supported to learn from their mistakes, not locked in cages."
Quotes Attributed to Amala Ramarathinam, Acting Managing Lawyer, Human Rights Law Centre:
The Committees report represents a missed opportunity to recommend crucial changes to the Bill. Children will continue to experience significant harm and trauma while the ACT Government delays raising the age to 14 and continues to criminalise 12 and 13 year olds for certain behaviours.
Police should not have the power to arrest and lock up children under the age of criminal responsibility. 10 year olds still have their baby teeth and 12 year olds are still in primary school. The Bill must be urgently amende...
Hindutva Goes to Washington: Narendra Modis US Visit "IndyWatch Feed National"
Again, he was at it, that charming show on two legs, playful and coy. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been burning the charismatic fuel of late, making the necessary emissions in visiting friendly countries. Each time, he seems to be getting away with more and more, currying (pun intended) favour with his hosts and landing the necessary deals.
For all the excitement of going to a fellow cricket loving state such as Australia, no one was under any illusion about the prize. Easy gains there on matters of commerce, education and security: a pliant PM, a pliant Cabinet, a political and business class hungering for access to a country which recently passed China as the most populous on the planet. In all of this, Modi had the audacity to urge Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to do something about reported acts of vandalism against Hindu temples in Melbourne.
In scale, nothing was going to compare to courting the superpower that, for all its might, teeters. On his June visit to the United States, Modi was building on earlier efforts to show India as a viable partner in a number of areas.
The Modi visit exemplified the calculations of the moment. The US has been rather clumsy of late, engaging in a foreign policy described by former US Secretary of the Treasury, Lawrence Summers, as a bit lonely. US foreign policy makers have tended to miss a bit or two, not least understanding the value Indian officials place on their military relationship with Moscow. The Indian political establishment is also mindful about how useful New Delhi is seen in Washington, the traditional counter to Beijing. That counter, however, is seen as subordinate to maintaining US supremacy under the lecturing guise of the rules-based order.
Such poses are simply not acceptable in either the Modi worldview or those of Indian policy makers. As Indias External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar has opined with a tart frankness, Washingtons power can be described as a transient moment of American unipolarity. To assume, arrogantly, that history was at its end at the conclusion of the Cold War was a Eurocentric analysis jettisoned by nationalism. It is exactly such nationalism that Modi brims with.
The joint statement from the two countries made familiar, and predictable assumptions. Much of it was frothy. Both Biden and Modi affirmed a vision of the United States and India as among the closest partners in the world a partnership of democracies looking into the 21st century with hope, ambition, and confidence. Naturally, there is no mention of Modis nationalistic....

In tribute to the late James ONeill, I will add this post about Ukraine. I can just imagine what he might write about our Australian PM, Albo, providing 120 Bushmasters to Zelensky. He wrote this about the Australian government in 2017:
...Australia-EU FTA talks stalled over agricultural exports and GIs, may resume in August "IndyWatch Feed National"
July 17, 2023: Trade Minister Farrell and Prime minster Albanese announced last week that EU concessions in negotiating the Australia-EU FTA were not good enough and that Australia would not sign a deal unless it had real commercial benefits for Australia.
Australia wants more access for Australian lamb, beef and other agricultural exports and rejects the EUs refusal to allow Australian producers to use names like prosecco and feta cheese (Geographical Indications).
EUs market of over 400 million people gives it greater bargaining power, but the EU also wants access to Australias critical mineral deposits, which are needed for production of batteries and other products for the transition to clean energy. EU representatives have also said more work was required to address these key outstanding issues. Minister Farrell commented that there was possibility of further talks next month.
The DFAT website reports that talks have concluded on other key areas of concern to AFTINET. We do not yet know if earlier EU proposals for longer monopolies on medicines have been removed, and whether the commitments on labour rights and environmental standards, including commitments on reduction of carbon emissions, are fully enforceable in the same way as other commitments in the agreement.
However, the details of these commitments will not be revealed until after the deal is concluded. The EU has a policy of releasing and publishing independent evaluations of the texts of trade agreements after they are concluded but before they are signed. The Albanese Labor government has a policy for a more open process, including independent evaluation of agreements before they are signed. The EU agreement will be their first chance to put this policy into practice.

Super charged weather is warning that much more climate action is necessary "IndyWatch Feed National"
Contributed by Joe Montero
Once again, the world is being warned by nature of the disaster climate warming is causing. This year has seen record heatwaves in Europe and devastating floods in other parts of the world. The planet is now paused on the eve of an El Nio on a scale never seen before.
These sort of weather events are not new. Records have been breaking year after year. Ice cap melts, raising sea levels, and a slowing down of the Atlantic conveyor are major causes of worsening weather patterns. 3 July saw the hottest day for the planet ever recorded. The evidence is indisputable.
Massive cyclone activity in the Indian Ocean, sinkholes appearing in California, unbearable heat in Spain, the spread of bushfires in Canada, record ocean water temperatures, are the reality. Records are being smashed. Species eh]extinction is accelerating, and ultimately, our own extinction is a real possibility.
Yet many governments, including that of Australia, dont seem to notice. They remain in a denial zone, too busy pleasing their big money backers to bother. This is a new wakeup call. We must call out our governments or their failure to act. We must not just get angry. Its important to divert our anger into constructive action.
What does this mean? It means becoming active in our communities, joining pour organisations, being loud, and taking our demand for change to those who hold the power. Our survival depends on winning this war. And it is a war. Those who stand in the way of the necessary climate action must be vanquished.
Its just as important to move beyond protest, towards being pro-active in building the future, by being involved in projects that cut emissions. When governments dont do it, its communities that must act. There is some of this already. But there must be...
The global association between egg intake and the incidence and mortality of ischemic heart disease. "IndyWatch Feed National"

PMID: 36901143 Abstract Title: The Global Association between Egg Intake and the Incidence and Mortality of Ischemic Heart Disease-An Ecological Study. Abstract: The relationship between egg consumption and ischemic heart disease (IHD) remains controversial as there is still no clear answer regarding the relationship, with research limited to a few geographical regions. In the current study, we conducted a longitudinal analysis of the association between egg intake and IHD incidence (IHDi) and mortality (IHDd) using 28 years of international data from 1990 to 2018. Egg intake (g/day/capita) by country was obtained from the Global Dietary Database. Age-standard IHDi and IHDd rates per 100,000 subjects in each country were obtained from the 2019 Global Burden of Disease database. The analysis included a total of 142 countries with populations of at least one million, for which all data were available from 1990 to 2018. Eggs are consumed worldwide, and regional differences in consumption are also shown. Utilizing IHDi and IHDd as objective variables and egg intake as an explanatory variable, the analysis was conducted using linear mixed models, which controlled for inter- and intra-country variation from year to year. The results showed a significant negative association between egg intake, and IHDi (-0.2530.117,

TUC Accused of Frustrating Formation of Organized Labour Structure
By GNA
July 16, 2023
The Ghana Federation of Labour (GFL) has accused the Ghana Trade Union Congress (TUC) of frustrating the conclusion of the process and the adoption of the draft of the committee to put in place proper organized labour structures.
GFL noted that instead of building proper structures to constitute Organized Labour, the TUC instead adopted a knee-jerk and ad hoc approach to dealing with labour issues.
TUC is not the same as Organized Labour, Mr. Abraham Koomson, the Secretary General of the GFL, told newsmen in Tema, stressing that the power of the TUC to legally represent all workers in Ghana was revoked with the amendment of the Industrial Relations Act (1960), Act 299.
Mr. Koomson added that the Labour Act 2003 (Act 651) replaced the TUC with Organized Labour, adding that it did not mention the structure and organogram of Organized Labour, a lacuna that, the TUC had been taking advantage of.
This, the Federation said, would enable labour to legitimately exercise its mandate to holistically address the concerns of the rank and file.
Organized Labour, which is a term (name) provided under the laws of Ghana, represents a body of recognized and independent labour unions, federations, and associations working in concert to pursue the common interest of working people in and of Ghana, he explained.
He recalled that to cure this problem, GFL resorted to the High Court for some answers, adding, however, that the court advised that they go for a settlement, out of which TUC and GFL agreed on three things.
The terms of settlement dated April 25, 2010, indicated that TUC and GFL were to work together to get a working definition of the term organized labour, an organogram for decision making within organized labour, and a timetable for the adoption by all labour unions of the working document and operationalizing the same.
He indicated that following this, a nine-member committee with representatives of labour unions such as ICU, TUC, CLOGSAG, GFL, and others came out with a...

Harnessing the Healing Power of Smart Stem Cells Derived From Human Fat "IndyWatch Feed National"
<p><p>Recent research has uncovered a new type of smart stem cell known as Induced Multipotent Stem Cells (iMS), marking a significant step forward in the field of regenerative medicine. These iMS cells, derived from readily accessible human fat cells, have shown an impressive ability to adapt and transform in animal studies, thus demonstrating their potential for tissue repair<a href= "https://newsroom.unsw.edu.au/news/health/scientists-are-step-closer-developing-smart-stem-cells-%E2%80%93-and-theyre-made-human-fat" id="user-content-fnref-1%5E" rel="noopener" target="_new" name= "user-content-fnref-1%5E">1</a>.</p> <p>John Pimanda, a professor at UNSW Medicine & Health, explains that iMS cells are unique in their ability to respond to their environment. The idea that stem cells can respond and adapt to their surroundings to repair various types of damaged tissue is novel, and could lead to a paradigm shift in stem cell research and treatment strategies1.
<h2>The Generation of Smart Stem Cells</h2> <p>Scientists created iMS cells by exposing human fat cells to a compound mixture, which triggered a process that resulted in the cells losing their original identity and behaving like smart stem cells. Interestingly, these reprogrammed cells remained dormant when injected into mice, until an injury occurred. Following an injury, the cells adapted and transformed into the required tissue for repair.</p> <h2>iMS Cells: Adaptive Chameleons of Regenerative Medicine</h2> <p>Heres how these iMS cells are transformative in the field of regenerative medicine:</p> <ul> <li><strong>Responsive to Surroundings</strong>: iMS cells behave like chameleons, responding to local cues and seamlessly blending into the tissue that needs healing.</li> <li><strong>Unprecedented Abilities</strong>: Unlike other stem cell technologies, iMS cells arent limited in their regenerative abilities and do not carry risks such as tumor development.</li> <li><strong>Patient-specific</strong>: Since iMS cells are derived from the patients own tissue, they significantly reduce the risk of rejection.</li> <li><strong>Wide Adaptation</strong>: iMS cells derived from adult tissue have shown the ability to adapt to a wide range of tissue types in mice, making them a kind of smart stem cell....</li> </ul>Hostels that allow van parking "IndyWatch Feed Capricornia"

Kennedy accuses Biden of preparing for war with Russia "IndyWatch Feed National"
RT | July 15, 2023
By ordering the deployment of 3,000 more reservists to Europe, US President Joe Biden is preparing to fight Russian forces on the ground in Ukraine, Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has said.
Biden has lost his way, Kennedy tweeted on Friday, arguing that the president should focus on Americas domestic problems instead of trying to achieve global military dominance.
I want people to understand what this troop mobilization is about. Its about preparing for a ground war with Russia, he said.
The idea of defeating Moscow in its conflict with Kiev is a futile geopolitical fantasy of the Biden administration, the Democratic presidential candidate added.
Thousands of Ukrainians have already lost their lives because Americas foreign policy establishment manipulated their country into war Now, rather than acknowledge failure, Biden admin prepares to sacrifice American lives too, Kennedy said.
On Thursday, Biden signed an executive order mobilizing 3,000 members of the US militarys Selected Reserve to boost the ranks of Operation Atlantic Resolve, which Washington launched in Europe in 2014 after Crimea rejoined Russia following the Western-backed coup in Kiev.
According to Army Lieutenant General Douglas Sims, the Joint Staff director of operations, the move reaffirms the unwavering [US] support and commitment to defend NATOs eastern flank in the wake of Russias military operation in Ukraine.
The US European Command (EUCOM) spokesman, Navy Captain Bill Speaks, said the deployment of reservists will not change current force-posture levels in Europe.
The leading Republican presidential candidate, former President Donald Trump, also had some harsh words to say about Bidens decision to send more American troops to Europe. The reckless escalation in Ukraine pursued by the White House is straining the US military to the point of disaster, he said.
Joe Biden cant even walk up the steps of Air Force One without tripping. The last thing this incompetent administration should be doing is pushing us further toward World War III.
Trump reiterated his earlier claim that if he becomes president again, he would end the conflict in Ukraine in 24 hours. Not one American mother or father wants to send their child to die in Eastern Europe. We must have peace.
Another Republican presidential candidate, Vivek Ramaswamy, said it is downright disturbing that the US media is largely ignoring the presidents order in its reporting. What is the justification now [for sending reservists to Europe]? What are the operations? Where will they go? What will they do? We need answers, not sweeping this under the rug as Biden would prefer, Ramaswamy said in...
