Name of a playland in Townsville active in the late 2000s-early 2010s "IndyWatch Feed Capricornia"

Hi all, as a very young child in the late 2000s-early 2010s, I remember going to this one specific indoor playland, like Lollipops. It had a red dog as a mascot, like Clifford. Does anyone know what the name of the place was? I also invite you to share any memories you have of that place, or if you know what happened to it which made it close down.

[An article Ivan from Slovakia translated into English for Gumshoe. This was in the email: The overall political situation makes him a bit nervous; but on the other hand, the self-confidence of Russia, together with China, and an evident loss of self-confidence by the US, means the correct shift of the overall positions. The Russia/China axis looks likely to become the new main axis, with the US falling a level below. There exists a Heartland Theory (quite old) and the present moves (Russia/China/Iran/India/Iraq) seem to go along in that direction. Also, the Iran/China cooperation agreement contributes a lot to my hopes of overpowering the US warmongering]

Ghana April 2023 PART 4: In search of a pangolin "IndyWatch Feed Qld"

White-bellied Pangolin

Following our successful encounter with the White-necked Picathartes (following post) our minds turned to another creature well-known from rainforests in the vicinity of Bonkro in central Ghana: the White-bellied Pangolin. Pangolin sits high on the wishlists of many critter lovers. The only mammal to be wholly covered in scales, the survival of several species is in the balance as pangolins are slaughtered in their tens of thousands. Pangolin scales are considered to have considerable value as traditional medicines in east Asia, especially China and Vietnam, but there is no evidence supporting this. Shy and harmless, the pangolin is believed to be the worlds most heavily trafficked mammal. As pangolin populations in Asia disappear, the trade increasingly has shifted to Africa, where the four pangolin species are now absent or rare throughout their ranges.

Before our tour, the group agreed with my suggestion for a $US50 reward for anyone in the villages around Bonkro who found us a pangolin, the stipulation being that we had to be taken to the pangolin and not the other way around. A man with tracking experience came forward and one of our Ashanti guides, Ibrahim Entsie, also had past form in finding pangolins. With these two guys, our group set out at sunset on Day 11 of our trip to find a pangolin. This was not going to be easy. We followed the trackers up and down ridges, along creeks, through regrowth and primary rainforest - often in rough terrain with no paths.

Ghana April 2023 Part 3: A tale of hope, angst and joy: The fabulous Picathartes "IndyWatch Feed Qld"

Our group huddled beneath the sandstone rock ledge of a cave deep in the rainforest, hoping to indulge one of natures great ornithological experiences: viewing the pre-dusk arrival of the beautiful White-necked (or Yellow-headed as it was formerly called) Picathartes, also known as Rockfowl. This remarkable bird, its bright yellow head bare of feathers, returns to the cave where it builds mud nests late each afternoon to roost. Its humped back and long legs and neck add to its bizarre appearance. We had walked 30 minutes from the nearby village of Bonkro in central Ghana through the Nyamebe Bepo Forest Reserve to reach the cave. It was Day 10 of our 21-day Ghana tour.

The picathartes cave

Id had the rockfowl experience before: in Cameroon in 2007, with the only other species in this family - the Grey-necked Picathartes, But our Ghana encounter was to be no less memorable. We had waited an hour, full of anticipation, when the first birds were spotted, feeding on the ground in rainforest below the cave....

Congress Suddenly Wants to Know If US Taxpayers Were Helping El Chapo "IndyWatch Feed National"

After flying under the radar for years, the case of Genaro Garca Luna is finally raising alarms in Congress, with one of the Senate's top Republicans demanding answers about how Mexico's highest-ranking cop was able to partner with DEA and FBI, "at the time that he funneled roughly 103,000 pounds of cocaine into the United States" for the Sinaloa Cartel. Garca Luna became the most senior Mexican law enforcement official ever convicted of narco-corruption when a Brooklyn federal jury delivered a unanimous guilty verdict on a five-count indictment that charged him with taking massive bribes to enable cartel drug smuggling, kidnappings, and murders while he was in office from 2001 to 2012. Garca Luna's position involved close collaboration with U.S. anti-narcotics agencies that operate in Mexico, and it gave him discretion over the spending of hundreds of millions in American tax dollars delivered as security aid. That money was supposed to go toward fighting the cartels, but his trial showed he was leaking sensitive intelligence, protecting drug shipments, and disrupting efforts to capture ... cartel leaders. On Feb. 22, a day after the guilty verdict, Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley sent a letter to the heads of the DEA and FBI asking what the agencies knew about Garca Luna and when, and demanding evidence ... that could shed new light on the relationship. In short, Grassley wants to know if American tax dollars were being sent to Mexico while the DEA and FBI were tolerating Garca Luna's corruption.

Note: This case adds to the evidence that the War on Drugs is a trillion dollar failure. For more along these lines, see concise summaries of deeply revealing news articles on government corruption from reliable major media sources.

I dont qualify at all "IndyWatch Feed National"

Answers in Genesis is looking for a full-time high school science teacher. Im not looking for a new job, but even if I were, Im stunned by how supremely unqualified I am for this position.

The qualified individual must be an evangelical Christian committed to living a biblical lifestyle in all areas and in full agreement with the schools statement of faith. The teacher is expected to be in alignment with the science and biblical positions held at Answers in Genesis and able to teach science from a biblical worldview in the classroom. The teacher must also be able to distinguish operational vs historical science as well as be able to articulate the evolutionary beliefs correctly while being able to refute them biblically and scientifically. The teacher must also have a good understanding of AiGs presuppositional apologetic approach and know how to incorporate it in the classroom.

The teacher shall be one who feels called of God to the teaching profession. The teacher must maintain a teachable spirit while demonstrating patience, humility, integrity, and kindness while performing his/her day-to-day duties. He/she must be devoted to prayerfully work with administration, faculty, students, and parents to develop and maintain a school which is thoroughly Christian and academically exceptional. The teacher shall prayerfully help students learn attitudes, skills, and subject matter that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christians to the glory of God.

I dont meet the requirements in a single sentence of that summary. Of course, nowhere in there does it say anything about degrees or training or experience, all that matters is conformity to the peculiar notion of science held by AiG.

Oh, at the end of the long list of detailed stuff, almost every bit of it about theological purity, there is a passing mention of what I might expect for qualifications of a real teaching position.

It is expected for the teacher to:

  • Hold a minimum of a bachelors degree or equivalent in related field
  • Have completed student teaching and/or other educational field experience.

It is preferred (but not necessary) for the teacher to:

  • Have two or more years of classroom teaching experience.
  • Have a current teaching certificate from a Christian school association and/or State Teaching Certificate in Education.
  • Have a...

Australia: Outsourced to the US Military Establishment "IndyWatch Feed National"

Its a very funny thing. In the US, the provision of services in such industries as security and intelligence is outsourced in a sprawling complex of contractors and subcontractors. In Australia, the entire military and security establishment is outsourced to Washingtons former mandarins, many of them earning a pile in consultancy fees. This, perhaps, is what Australias Defence Minister Richard Marles means when he talks about the Australian Defence Force moving beyond interoperability to interchangeability.

The list of recipients is depressingly long, and suggests that Australia has ceased to have any pretensions of sovereignty in defence matters. Take, for instance, the appointment of US Vice Admiral William Hilarides to the post of reviewing the future of the Royal Australian Navys surface fleet, for which he is pocketing US$4,000 a day. Since 2016, he has received US$1.3 million in contracts from the Australian government.

Hilarides featured in a story by the Washington Post last year, which revealed that two retired US admirals and three former US Navy civilian leaders were playing critical but secretive roles as paid advisers to the government of Australia during its negotiations to acquire top-secret nuclear submarine technology from the United States and Britain.

It gets worse. Six retired US admirals are identified as having offered their services to the Commonwealth since 2015. Hilarides was particularly keen, having retired a mere two months before seeking permission to advise the Australians on how best to extend the life of its Collins Class submarine fleet.

US Navy officials had few problems with the application, approving it within five days and forwarding it to the US State Department, which treated it as a mere formality. Hilarides, in his application, stated that he would be receiving money from a contract between the Australian Commonwealth and the consulting firm Burdenshaw Associates, based in Fairfax City, Virginia. The same firm has received US$6.8 million from the Australian taxpayer since 2015.

In a statement provided to the paper, the Australian Department of Defence revealed that Hilarides, another admiral Thomas Eccles, and a number of those on the Commonwealths Naval Shipbuilding Expert Advisory Panel, were furnishing Canberra with expert advice on the performance of the naval shipbuilding...

The Myth of the COVID-19 Pandemic and other lies Canadian Patriot with Denis Rancourt "IndyWatch Feed National"

denisrancourt | April 22, 2023

In this Canadian Patriot Podcast, Dr. Denis Rancourt explains his published findings and methods demonstrating the popular fallacy that a covid-19 virus had caused vast death prior to the vaccine rollouts in 2021. In fact, not a single death anywhere in the world can be provably tied to COVID-19, but rather the criminally incompetent (and likely intentionally criminal) protocols deployed from above nation states. Dr. Rancourt explains the real reasons for the increase in all-cause mortality across the world with a focus on the USA, Australia, Israel and India which occured only after the vaccine rollout began. A discussion on Faucis admission that he was wrong about masking protocols and the broader corruption in academic research over the past decades is also explored.

A NJ Pastor-politician is Gunned Down, and a Community Reels

By MARYCLAIRE DALE

SAYREVILLE, N.J. (AP) Nicole Teliano used to play games on her phone in the mayors office while her mother worked down the hall several evenings a month, tending to the tedious, often acrimonious task of serving in local government.

The 11-year-old girl didnt mind sharing her mother, Sayreville Councilwoman Eunice Dwumfour, with the nearly 50,000 residents of the central New Jersey town, the young people she nurtured as a pastor of a prosperity gospel church in Newark or the Nigerian church colleague she married in a festive ceremony in Abuja in November.

Well, my mom was a little bit of extra, so I could share a little bit. There was enough to go around, Nicole said in a family interview with The Associated Press this month.

Now, friends and loved ones are asking for help figuring out who gunned down the charismatic 30-year-old Dwumfour outside her Sayreville home on Feb. 1. The case is reverberating from New Jersey to West Africa, with touchpoints including politics, religion and money that echo across continents.

Authorities arent saying much. Dwumfours parents and new husband Peter Ezechukwu, who hoped to join his wife in the United States this spring but instead came for her funeral, are frustrated by the ongoing silence. The Middlesex County Prosecutors Office said it recognizes their concerns but needs to protect the integrity of the investigation.

Eunice was too good of a person to let (her death) go unanswered, Mayor Victoria Kilpatrick said at a Feb. 8 memorial service, where hundreds mourned the stylish preacher known as Pastor Eunney_K.

That smile of hers, Kilpatrick said, is not going to let us give up.

2023 Statement from Marius Mason "IndyWatch Feed National"

Statement from Marius Mason on June 11th, a day of solidarity with long-time anarchist prisoners.

Dear Community, Family and Friends,

Thank you for the work you are doing to make the change we need to make into the world for our collective survival. Your dedication, support and love are a constant source of inspiration and motivation for me; and I am betting for other prisoners, as well.

This has been as eventful year and a half here at FCI Danbury. My transfer to a male facility had been viewed with great trepidation both by those supportive of trans people and by those who are adamantly opposed to our existence. Ive had many memorable experiences; some humiliating, some merely annoying and awkward. But, also several that have been rewarding and deeply affirming.

There has definitely been a sense of working things out as we gothe way strip searches have been conducted has been all over the board. Sometimes they have been done by one male staff person, sometimes by one female staff person and several times by several male staff people. Strip searches occur before and after visits, before and after medical trips out, and also when going into the SHU (I had to go there before a medical procedure to fast).

I missed one that was conducted down at the Rec when a fight between inmates was suspected. For the most part, as embarrassing as strip searches can be (they definitely trigger my dysphoria), most staff have been professional about them. There have been some unprofessional remarks made on occasion, though, that have been dehumanizing and dispiriting, but actually have happened a lot less often than I was expecting. A nice surprise.

Mostly, I have been able to navigate what negativity and attempted exploitation there has been, taking it as the cost of admission to this new circus. I am determined to make progress on my transition, and have appreciated the opportunity to keep growing in my social transition and to make all the benchmarks necessary for satisfying the requirements that the BOP has set. For the most part, I keep it moving and accent the positive and eliminate the negative.

There has been a lot of positive movement in my transition to a predominantly cis-male-identified prison. While there are about six transwomen here that I have met, and one gender fluid person, I have yet to meet anyone else who identifies as a trans man at this prison. I did know about eight transmen at Carswell, where I was placed in Texas. Being in this population, there has been a lot of opportunity to discuss trans issues with people. 280423 Issue of Writs for By- Election Delayed

New Dawn FM News

The North Bougainville By-Election will be delayed until next month due to non-availability of funds.

The writs were supposed to have been issued yesterday.

This is according to PNG Electoral Commissioner Simon Sinai reported by Jeffrey Elapa from Post Courier.

Electoral Commissioner says "The electoral commission is unable to conduct the by-elections for three vacant seats on time due to lack of funds."

As a result the issue of writs for Wewak, North Bougainville and Lagaip open seats have been deferred to next month.

He said the commission needs K14 million to conduct the by-elections. The new date is yet to be determined.

"We initially set the tentative dates, including the date for issue of writs, on 27 April 2023 for the by-election for three vacant seats. However, this can not happen now because the Finance and Treasury have not responded to our budget submission to conduct the by-election," he said.

Mr Sinai said it is the Constitutional right of the people in the affected electorates to have a voice in Parliament and assured the people in these electorates that a by-election will be held as soon as funds are made available.

"I am of the view that as responsible agencies of State, we will respect their wishes and ensure that the by-election are held so people are given the opportunity to vote their leader,". Ends/////ak

New Dawn FM News

The cost of by-election per affected electorate as follows:
Lagaip-Enga Province- K5792,807.00

Secretary for Finance Dr Ken Ngangan said the budgets for by-election are with PNGEC and the funds are released to them from Treasury.

He said there are no issues with government cash flow so funding should not be a problem, but funding warrants need to be released by Treasury according to their by-election schedules.

Attempts to contact Treasurer Ian Ling Stuckey were unsuccessful.

The North Bougainville seat was left vacant when the incumbent MP and candidate who the seat in the last years election, William Nakin, died on before polling was completed.

For the Wewak Open, the incumbent MP who retained his seat was sworn in as Member of the 11th Parliament, Kevin Isufu, died after a long illness, while the Lagaip Open Seat election was failed following widespread violence and disruptions during polling.

Mr Sinai said the issue of writs for Wewak will be further delayed as an election petition filed against the deceased MP is still before the court.

He will announce the fixed date for the issue of writs later when funding is made available. ENDS////AK

Colombia: Scientists explore remote seamounts to protect hammerhead sharks "IndyWatch Feed National"

In 1995, when Colombia protected the island of Malpelo by setting up the Malpelo Fauna and Flora Sanctuary, the area had a recorded 43 species of crustaceans, six species of starfish, and 70 species of fish. These figures, the only ones available, were from 1972, when the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute led its first expedition to the island. Over time, scientists carried out more expeditions, and the number of recorded species grew. By 2016, the National Natural Parks System of Colombia had cataloged 1,500 animal species in the area. Nine of them are not found in any other part of the world and about 40 species are threatened or vulnerable, according to a parks system press release. Yet a large part of the life cycle and the ecology of some of these species remained unknown, especially for migratory species like the scalloped hammerhead shark (Sphyrna lewini), which visits the island frequently. For example, no one knew the routes by which the sharks in this population move through the sea, how deep they swim, where else they congregate, the locations of all their breeding areas, or their relationships with other populations of scalloped hammerheads. Today, after more than 20 years of work, researchers from the Malpelo and Other Marine Ecosystems Foundation, a Colombian NGO, have found answers to some of these questions. United within a strategic ecosystem Malpelo Island is Colombias westernmost point, located about 500 kilometers (310 miles) off the Pacific port city of Buenaventura. PNG Airline Air Niugini's Female Cargo Staff creating history "IndyWatch Feed Niugini"

An employee of Papua New Guinea's Airline  Air Niugini  has created history by being the first and only female staff operating the Main Deck Loader(MDL), an equipment  responsible for loading and unloading larger containerised cargo from the main deck of widebody aircraft.

Michelle Geekala from East Sepik and Gulf provinces, works with Air Niugini Cargo Departments operations section and is the only specialised female operator of the MDL equipment.

Her most recent task was unloading heavy mining equipment from the main deck of a Boeing 747-400 series freighter here in Port Moresby. While passenger planes carry people with minimal luggage at the cargo hold, freighters specifically uplift cargo, their empty galleys are modified to fit various types of cargo.

Michelle said The journey has not been easy, it comes with its own challenges but you have to believe in yourself, even when no one does, you have to be your own supporter and critique, challenge yourself to be better than you were yesterday.

She was previously engaged in and operated the Lower Deck Loader (LDL) for both the B747 and B737 freighters but the recent task was her first on the Main Deck Loader. The Main Deck Loader Equipment is higher and has larger weight capacity while the Lower Deck Loader is used to load and unload cargo from the lower lobe of wide body aircraft and also main deck of the narrow body aircraft.

Air Niuginis Manager for Cargo Operations, Trevor Elly said the airlines cargo department has always maintained a healthy level of female presence in its business and in particular its operational areas both within Port Moresby and the domestic network.

We are proud of Michelles progress, breaking into an area where you find only men working there. She is currently the only female in the Port Moresby Operations unit who operates the MDL equipment and joins a legacy of other female Cargo Operations Staff including our current Cargo Business Development Manager, Ms. Donna Hevoho as well as General Manager Cargo, Ms. Paila Leka and many other women through Air Niuginis 50-year history. Elly said

Perthes Warns of Negative Impact of Khartoum Fighting on Darfur Region

A picture released by activist on 25 November showing a village burning in Jebel Moon Area of West Darfur

April 25, 2023 (KHARTOUM) UN special envoy to Sudan sounded an alarm bell of the negative impact of the fighting in Khartoum on the rest of the country, citing the resumption of tribal clashes in West Darfur as one area of concern.

Volker Perthes, on Tuesday, briefed the 15-member council for the second time about the situation in Sudan after the eruption of war in Khartoum between the national army and the Rapid Support Forces on April 15.

Perthes reviewed the security situation in Sudan and said that the Darfur region is the most affected by the hostilities in Khartoum pointing to North, South and West Darfur states.

He said a ceasefire brokered by the state authorities ended tribal fighting in North Darfur, while initiatives partially stopped the fighting in some localities of South Darfur but continued in the state capital Nyala.

Perthes underscored that the fighting between the national army and the paramilitary forces which originate from Darfur resumed in El Geneina near the Chadian border on Tuesday with increased involvement of tribal components.

He went further to speak about reports of mobilization by some tribes and some armed groups stressing that this escalation could draw in Sudans neighbouring countries.

I renew my call on all communities to maintain their neutrality and refrain from taking sides, Perthes urged.

The West Darfur State witnessed recurrent clashes between the Arab and Massalit tribes during the past three years.

A senior West Darfur state government official told Sudan Tribune that The clashes in El Geneina between the army and the RSF have turned into tribal conflicts between Arab and African groups.

The fighting began on Monday when gunmen believed to be affiliated with the Sudanese Alliance Forces, led by State Governor Khamis Abdallah, attacked the command of the RSF Sector in El Genein...

Bryan Kramer's short but dramatic political career ends today "IndyWatch Feed Niugini"

by
DAVID LEPI

Bryan Kramer's brief and tumultuous political career will come to an end today as he receives punishment for the seven charges he has been found guilty of. Both Kramer's defense and the state's representatives have made recommendations for penalties based on the severity of the crimes committed. The country watches in amazement as the law catches up with Kramer, a self-proclaimed corruption fighter who became corrupt himself, and takes hold of him. It is often said that when the weak enter the battle, the hunter becomes the hunted. Will Kramer merely receive a slap on the wrist and be free to go, as he has suggested? The answer is a resounding no.

Kramer has a tendency to recklessly make enemies on all fronts, and his insults towards the court and members of the judiciary proved to be his downfall. The judiciary system, including the Ombudsman Commission, Public Prosecutor, and leadership tribunal made up of judges and magistrates, weighed his fate and found him lacking. Scandalizing courts or judges only serves to diminish their authority, and Kramer's insults to the judiciary did just that. It eroded public confidence in the court's authority.

Karma seems to have caught up with Kramer. He used lies, insinuations, and malice, along with every tactic in the book to destroy the best-performing government of Prime Minister Peter O'Neill. Kramer began by fabricating allegations and spreading them through uncontrolled social media, feeding a gullible mob's envy of their neighbors' success. Despite having access to state assets and the backing of a prime minister, Kramer could not substantiate a single allegation. His vile and vindictive campaign was a complete waste.

The Tribunal has made...

Nasfunds Ian Tarutia: the exit interview "IndyWatch Feed Niugini"

Before he handed over the baton to incoming CEO Rajeev Sharma last month, Nasfunds long-serving CEO Ian Tarutia, spoke to Business Advantage PNG about his time in charge of Papua New Guineas largest private sector superannuation fund and where PNGs economy might go from here.

Business Advantage PNG (BAPNG): Looking back over your time restructuring Nasfund, what key milestones resonate strongest with you?

Ian Tarutia (IT): Over the decade from 2000 up to 2010, success was driven primarily through the implementation of good governance. Underpinning a good governance framework were high levels of transparency and accountability, plus strong engagement with key stakeholders.

Im a firm believer that if you get governance right adopting sound commercial principles, understanding risks and ensuring audited accounts are completed on time everything else will fall into place.

BAPNG: Based on what happened with the last [resources] boom, what are your expectations over the next three years in PNG?

IT: Its encouraging that TotalEnergies has launched the first phase of front-end engineering and design (FEED) studies for the Papua LNG projects upstream production facilities. But, in terms of the real cash flowing in to kick start a lot of the groundwork, I believe it will be towards the back end of next year, 2024.

Business appreciates the sovereign rights of the state to raise taxes but, if it is implemented without adequate consultation, the outcome is counterproductive.

Assuming things progress as expected, there should be increased demand for goods and services. Additionally, the workforce required should close existing vacanc...
